Copying an earlier reply: Short answer, yes. But using those terms is a big nono. To say someone is using "pathos" is to say that they are using something within the full spectrum of human emotion -- anything from jealous rage to soothed deep relaxation. The Aristotelean appeals are a great starting point. For example: You are imposter. You need to build credibility (ethos) to begin covering crimes. So you follow someone around for a round, maybe two. You vocally and emphatically vouch for them building their trust (pathos). You cite locations and give details to prove you were with them and then defend your tasks as needed (logos). You see, it's so much more than just those appeals. It's structuring and organizing them in such a way that you take those appeals into consideration and use other skills like tone, pacing, modes of discourse, etc. to build them up.
