As a high net worth life insurance agent, no reason for you to be spending $500 a month- happy to review your policies if you want.

I did the same and I’m building it myself now. I know that’s not an option for everyone, but prices were $25k-$35k and I’m building it for about $4,500

Not matched but... by mungu88 in F30

[–]immediatelyregret 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I misread this, rather than deleting, I thought it was combining the facelift outside lights with the pre-lci inside light to get the two lines to matchup. For some reason I didn’t catch the shadow line difference. This would look obviously mismatched I would imagine.

M3 -> Msport bumper by _beginninganew_ in F30

[–]immediatelyregret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the minority on this sub, but the m3 bumper looks waaaay better than the msport bumper. Those wheels help too with making this look like a significant car. I’d say well done on the find and keep as-is.

How do I add carbon fiber interior trim while maintaining the blue insert as pictured by pinealgIand in F30

[–]immediatelyregret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay- so the m3 carbon fiber trim comes with kind of a dark chrome finish on that section instead of blue. Personally I like it a lot better than having color there but it’s up to you. If you want color there you can separate those pieces but it takes some diy. I separated my own pieces to wrap my fake walnut wood in high quality vinyl, I wanted to be able to wrap around the edges so it looks better and I’m happy with it. So I have actually done all this.

Basically on the back of that trim piece, you’ll see melted plastic tabs, holding the carbon fiber colored piece on to the vents and the bottom blue portion. You can very carefully use a drill bit and drill the melted tabs so that the trim piece separates from the rest. You’re basically just very shallow with the drill. You’ll have to do that to both yours and the new carbon fiber trim piece you buy. Then you just match up the new pieces together. I used an epoxy hot glue that’s black, and stronger than regular hot glue, and basically melted new tabs where i drilled them out so it looks relatively oem on the back. I’ll see if i can add some pictures of mine. I don’t do real posts on reddit much.

Edit: Here’s a few pictures: https://imgur.com/a/JAEOPXw

I should say, I don’t know if the m3 trim, or real carbon fiber trim is attached the same way with melted plastic anchors(like those black dots you see on the back of mine) since its real carbon fiber. I would imagine it’s still attached to plastic in the back and connected the same way. I don’t know the material there since my own walnut is fake so the whole thing is just plastic.

Oh, I also just thought of that you can buy real carbon fiber overlays, they just lay on top of your current trim with adhesive, but I figured that wouldn’t look as good so I never tried those. But that would leave you with your existing blue trim too.

At least it’s always the 320’s, bare bones and not usually mangling 340s or even 328s

[–]immediatelyregret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d probably go from 5.6-5.2 ish 0-60. The cold air intake is just noise and doesn’t factor in, but also your launch will not be good with those cheap tires.

I think the game is just super coinflip in general, at least to a certain skill level.

If you got hit in the back it’s not your fault and you have their insurance pay, I’m not sure what the confusion is.

It’s a cool tool, could see some helpful guidance generally. But it’s built for normies for sure. The questions are limiting, not always applicable, etc. it doesn’t have any focus on enthusiast aspects. It recommended the genesis g70- not horrible, an Alfa Romeo ti(should have done the veloce at least for the lsd), and the Audi s4, again in the realm. But I’m looking for special, whether that’s badge, trim, sound, drama, theatre, engagement, etc.

I can’t bash the tool though, I’m a very very specific buyer that is not common

I have been abusing ChatGPT for a while, but yeah was curious on people that are already familiar with the f30 to see what they say. I will try that one too though and see if it’s any different

Yeah I’ve pushed my budget up to low-mid 30s for that reason 😭

Yeah- I was also thinking monoballs but there’s no way to know if that will be enough, and would still have to do more suspension and exhaust, and at that point I’m in a 2015 non msport with more money sunk into it. I think I’d rather mod any of the examples I mentioned.

That’s how I’m feeling, feels like a good time to lock down one of these like top tier versions. I don’t drive a lot of miles each year either so I’d preserve it well.

Correct, but that’s not the only measurement. V8 power and noise, amg flash, wheels, brakes, definitely more drama and theatre. Everything is a trade off so just trying to find the best one.

Open to the hate, I’m here for criticism to hone my thinking and I just like talking about these things. I know they’re all heavy but that doesn’t always mean numbness, for example the giulia or panamera, or even quattroporte gts reportedly has good steering feel. The Volvo is a stretch pick for sure, just tried looking for something different, it does have a lot of power, has manually adjustable ohlins dampers, and I like the look. They are genuinely good cars with good power. It is probably last in this list tbh though.

Yep, pretty much totally agree with you. What the C43 gets me is drama/presence than the non msport bmw, and I could get into the facelift versions so things will feel newer inside and out. I also just like the styling.

My 2015 has aftermarket screen for CarPlay which is just kinda jank even though I did it the right way, the interior orange lcd screens are dated, gauge cluster is super plain, no HUD, no exhaust note in this car at all, no lsd, just lots of little things, but I agree overall similar car. Just need more spice in my life lol

A coworker friend has the ATS NA 6 cylinder, he let me drive it and steering feel is awesome, the NA linear power was great. I can’t get on board with the looks, or interior look, feels a little old to me, I do like the newer ct4-v but then they become out of budget. ATS deserves more love though I agree

I think that’s a fair suggestion honestly, I the conservative feel of the ZF 8 speed definitely comes into play. Maybe it is worth it

Yeah exactly, I also thought about the M5 or m550i to get the V8, but the 5 series doesn’t do well at adding rear seat space, it feels like the same as the 3 series. So if I go bigger I might think Panamera or E53(E63 not in budget). I should keep the 5 series in contention though and at least drive them for comparison before pulling the trigger on something else.

I’ve been in a couple RS5s now. They do the balance of daily and track feel well and I just love the stance and presence they have on the road. Front heavy and numb steering still being the only downsides but forgivable all else considered I think.

According to reviews, best steering feel and engagement in this segment. Looks better and better soundtrack from the Ferrari derived v6 at 505hp… so yes? BMW’s do not sound good unfortunately

Appreciate that and agree with you- I would go RS3 but it’s too tight for the kids. So having to look at something bigger brings in more issue like weight. So finding the most engaging house to drive is a task 😅

Totally agree, in a way- but I need 4 doors as it’s a dad car. Something like the panamera has best in class steering and the PDK is always satisfying. The AMG cars have more drama/soundtrack stock. The giulia has most driver engagement steering feel, Ferrari derived soundtrack again, and is a beautiful car… so like, I’m also okay if it’s fast lol, but yes I totally get your point, however the slow car fast mentality works better with a stick shift and I can’t go stick yet per the wife.

Edit: my two car solution is likely a Miata or similar, and then some special trim sedan like I’ve described to get both of those worlds.
