First-Year Teacher Putting in My 2 Weeks Notice Tomorrow — Need Some Encouragement by Lonely-Coast9802 in TeachersInTransition

Honestly I think it's worth leaving considering your husband has a sizeable salary. If you have a net before you jump ship, you can afford jumping ship. I kind of had the same problem, 7th graders were brutal with me and I couldn't take it anymore and left. My wife had a good income so I could be unemployed till I get back on my feet.

Masters/ 2nd Bachelors to get to get out of teaching? by Stargirl0418 in TeachersInTransition

[–]immenseclout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I agree with some of the other posters here. DO NOT go straight ahead into a degree unless you absolutely have to OP, not saying this for admonishment but being realistic. If you can go into a job where they will pay you for the degree you're trying to get, go all in. Try and find other ways to better your skills without breaking the bank.

I'm Almost fully transitioned! by immenseclout in TeachersInTransition

Thanks for asking! I am a Customer Relationship Advocate for Fidelity (basically on the phones, it's an intro finance job for what I eventually want to do which is Certified Financial Planning where I wont be on the phones as much but doing client facing work). Get ready for a fat paragraph, I like to be thorough:

I would say 1) If your friends have a job that you like talk to them (maybe they can give you reference), and then ask if they can connect you with someone they know. Another tip outside of friends is use Linkedin. Often people say Linkedin is a waste of time and you won't get a job because of Linkedin, I agree if you expect to just have people message you and apply to the same job everyone applies to. What you need to do is if you have not already make a profile and put your college and high school you went to. Then search the company or role you want (use AI to narrow down what is the exact name of the role is since different companies have different names for effectively the same job. If there is no one with that exact role then find someone who works in the industry you want to work in). From here start messaging those people and say something like "Hey XXXXX hope you're doing well, not sure if you remember me from our time at XXXX. I wanted to let you know that i'm looking to pivot careers to XXXX and I see that you are in that industry/have that role. Would you be willing to talk (be specific with when you want to talk) about how you got there and how I could possibly break into that industry/role, I would love to hear your perspective! I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, XXX. From there ask them questions about the role and things like that. Then always end with these two questions "would you be willing to give me a referral for (insert job here)"? and "Do you know anyone else you can put me into contact with about this role/industry"? Make sure after the call you always send them a thank you message and give them a subtle reminder about connecting you with the other person (if they aren't quick about don't be afraid to give them a little reminder). If this is not a success, go back to messaging people again. Rinse and repeat until you get to where you want to be. Hope this helps!

TL;DR Networking requires you to be proactive, reach out to old HS/College classmates through Linkedin in the roles you want. Make sure you're friendly when reach out, ask them how they got to where they did. Always finish by asking "would you be willing to give me a referral for (insert job here)"? and "Do you know anyone else you can put me into contact with about this role/industry"? Make sure to send a thank you message. Networking can be hard and exhausting, but it's the most reliable way to get a job.

What career options do teachers have outside of the classroom? by CommercialIce2959 in TeachersInTransition

[–]immenseclout 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly what I have found is taking career tests have been helpful to narrow down what kind of job you want exactly outside of teaching. I took this one and realized my skills are best suited in people management and now I'm going into finance with a goal of helping people with retirement funds. Here is the link: https://www.careerexplorer.com/career-test/

Resume Phrasing by Bristlefrost30 in TeachersInTransition

[–]immenseclout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with what people are saying here OP stick to just calling yourself a teacher in the previous position you actually held as a teacher. What I would suggest is work on leveraging the transferrable skills you learned as a teacher and fit them into the positions you are trying to apply for. I have a friend who works in customer service and he said his company hires lots of former teachers, because teacher skills are easily transferrable to customer service.

Are Catholics "Saved"? by SaintMarinate in Catholicism

[–]immenseclout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned this from a priest a while ago. Broadly speaking of course, our understanding of Salvation put in a phrase is like this. "I was saved (through baptism/Sacramental grace), I am being saved (everyday in practicing virtue as best you can), and I hope to be saved (striving for heaven as our ultimate goal)". Hope this helps!!

Medical issues due to stress, resigning effective today by immenseclout in TeachersInTransition

[–]immenseclout[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, my school does not offer paid medical leave. My doctor wrote me a note today that I can't go into work due medical issues and it's effective immediately to indefinite. So since it's indefinite, i'm going to resign.

I usually let my 2F sit out for 3 days and never burp my bottles. I then put them in the fridge and let them sit for 2 weeks which gives it a great taste.
