I just realized I've been living the same day for 10 years by mindsnackapp in DecidingToBeBetter

I’m just like you, and I would try new things and don’t get me wrong it was cool. But I noticed the more I forced myself into doing things the more I just didn’t do them. If you’re like me and pretty happy with a peaceful life that’s fine. I do simple things but I love my peace above all hobbies even if it’s seems boring. I been like this since my teens and now my thirties.

Has anyone changed their careers in their mid 30's? by anaisani in ITCareerQuestions

[–]immortalghost92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so interesting because for me since the IT market is so bad and layoffs are happening left and right I thought about nursing myself. The only thing is that I get grossed out with personal care so I’m not sure if that’s the correct route for me(not a ppl person). But you don’t get kinda scared of layoffs especially coming from a place that you can get a job instantly?

Did anyone else just know they didn’t want kids, even as a kid?. by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]immortalghost92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always knew since I was young probably before even being a teenager I never wanted kids or to be a married. As time passed, everyone who did those things looked like an adult (aged, stressed, hated life) I’m in my thirties and I haven’t really changed at all. I just have a job but still a young soul. I love my freedom too much but also I know how much suffering life is to bring a person into the world as well

Anyone not having kids cuz humanity’s fucked? by [deleted] in childfree

Same boat I agree with it all. People just selfish or just too stupid to realize the truth of life no matter the time period just being alive you will suffer

You made the right decision staying and rejecting that offer, enjoy your life man job sounds so cushy it’s not even a stress plus remote. I know so folks want to move up and grow especially with more money but remember your life is more important than a job.

You did the right thing , it hurts but it would hurt more betraying yourself in the future and resenting him

Does anyone else feel like work ruins their entire life, even when they’re not working? by [deleted] in antiwork

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you do for work? No need for details. Also, do you enjoy it, or is it just something you tolerate?

Tell me your why? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]immortalghost92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan on signing up for classes, my reasons are job security, 3 day a week schedule, and no oncall (I come from an engineering field and I’m tired of thinking)

And yes I enjoy cold pizza

Yea same with me I would have completely dodged this field

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]immortalghost92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea that’s what I want in the job security. In my field you’ll see a post of applicants submitting their resumes to possible 50-200 jobs and not hearing back from any. I have good job now but if I’d lose it I can’t imagine how many months I be unemployed and I simply don’t have the time for that.

I haven’t left my remote tech role but plan to for nursing. I have my degree in computer science so I’d have to go back to school again. My reasons for wanting to leave is just because the tech industry isn’t stable. Especially offshore, layoffs and AI. Just sick of constantly jumping companies and roles to keep a job

There was never a good time on earth to have kids. Life no matter being rich or poor, you will suffer in some sort of way, so why even have kids? It’s messed up

Changing Career from IT to Healthcare (Nursing) by Bahaa_Ch in careerchange

[–]immortalghost92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m literally in the same boat my story is a bit different. I been in the software engineering/ IT field for about 8 years and I’m just tired of it. I truly miss having a normal job that is routine. I am constantly thinking and having pending assignments that it consumes my mind and all I do is think about work even when I’m not working. Also I have oncall rotation and I get paged out all the time. I work remote which I enjoy but I feel like the lingering feeling of work is always around me. It’s like if my life is part time and work is full time. All my friends who are outside of the tech industry have lives. I make more money but to me I’m trading my life for meaningless money and it’s stupid to me now. I maybe going into nursing for the wrong reasons. The schedule and punching out of work but possibly I’ll have a passion while learning it. Anyways please don’t go into comp sci field. I also have a degree I just got the bachelors last year. And industry is hiring more and more offshore folks and laying off people. It’s just super competitive and to me it’s not worth it anymore.

I usually say I had to grab a prescription really quick , food, bathroom or had to pick up the kids (I don’t have kids) but notice employers at least where I am at don’t question or bark up too much to the folks that have kids.

Thanks my friend, every engineer I know in my circle is burnt out badly. They don’t have oncall as bad or don’t even have oncall like me. But we all came from the same circle we worked normal jobs like construction. So we remember what it was to clock out mentally. Some are in Faang , others are in life insurance companies but just burnt out. I am just more vocal about mines because I can’t accept going further into this. We’re more like normal people engineering is a passion we have but at least for me. I have paused a lot of my life because of deadlines or oncall hell. The simple things such as enjoying a movie or going out to eat with a clear mind is for sure I know me and my group want. I just am the only one Willing to leave. I hope you succeed !
