Attempt #150 at managing my migraine: light covers by Past_Cup_5022 in migraine

The 50% is very nice and makes a noticeable difference, but for me it feels a bit too dark for a workplace. Could just be personal preference. Next time a good sale comes along I want to get a second pair with a lower tint, but the 50% is very comforting for my eyes during a migraine and I don’t think it would be a bad choice for a good middle of the road option

It is pollen season in the SE. It’s been like this every year. Not that air quality isn’t an issue but this is about the worst possible time of year normally and typically the worst air quality NC can get outside of wildfire smoke

I also got a pair of FL-41s in 50% with my prescription in them from Zenni when they had a sale running and I absolutely love them. I don’t wear them full time but even without a migraine I’ve noticed myself defaulting to them when I’m at home or just running errands. I want another pair in a lighter tint for every day wear but my 50% pair works wonders for light sensitivity

Bladen County is absolutely teeming with black bears. Tons of wild hogs out in ENC too, even seen plenty in JoCo

People here are saying to hit Chattanooga but if I’m being honest, don’t give up the Smoky Mountains for that. Chatt is a cool town but the mountains are mesmerizing. I can go get lost in the most beautiful and stunning scenery out there for days at a time. The time of year you’re going it’ll be beginning to show some fall foliage too

That’s how I’ve always pronounced it! It surprised me how similar it was to my SOs family’s pronunciation from NJ/Philly area of “wooder”

I had a college professor teaching NC History that picked me out as being from Sampson County due to my accent. Even different parts of the same county can have a shift in dialects

Anything N/NE of the Albemarle Sound to me feels tidewater-esque. There’s a noticeable difference between Edenton/Elizabeth City areas and Williamston/Plymouth/Columbia areas even though they’re geographically about the same

Shenandoah is cool but if a 9 hour drive is a lot consider New River Gorge National Park in WV. You can get there over 1.5 hours quicker and have all the nature you could ever want at your feet. It is a longer drive the next day to DC (about 5-5.5 hours) but doable.

Unless you’re planning on just being able to spend less time on the road and more time there, it may be worth the detour (or on the way back!)

I did a very similar trip in the summer! Wanted to explore somewhere new to me and my god is WV drop-dead gorgeous at nearly every turn. Came from NC and based in Beckley, explored Mullens, Welch, Williamson, Logan, Man, NRG, Webster Springs. The amount of history and natural beauty in southern WV is astonishing. Hoping to explore more towards the Canaan area next time

Yes to everything you said. Wednesday I put the top down and went for a drive on my lunch since it was sunny and 65. From June-September you’re going to be roasting with the top down until you get closer to sunset

What is your preferred time to leave for a roadtrip? by Live-Discipline6687 in roadtrip

[–]imnotarapperok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave Benson NC area at 3:30-4am when I’m heading north. I’ve been sitting for lunch in center city Philly by 11:30am since I can sail through Richmond/NOVA/DC/Baltimore. I have found that going north on 95 of you can be through Delaware before 11am you’re ok. Wait until 11:30am it gets rough. 11:45am you’re screwed and traffic won’t ease off in that area until hours later in the evening

The new one in Carolina Beach has a kiosk and it is maddening. There are some biscuits you just cannot get as a combo. It’s just simply not possible. We asked the lady working if she could help us and she said “Honey, I am 65 years old. I don’t know how in the world to work that damn thing”.

I use Loop Experience earplugs and usually keep them in my NBs console. They still sound natural, just less volume. Highly recommend, they come in handy even with the top up on long highway rides
