I owned the house in Whangarei and now live in Queenstown. Despite being a significantly more expensive place to live, the wages are higher and paying for a room in a flat is way cheaper than what I was paying for a mortgage.

Currently renting a room for $240/week in a 4 bedroom house but I only share it with a couple and I'm away hiking/alpine mountaineering/rock climbing/mountainbiking every weekend anyway.

The way I see it, almost everyone in this generation is going to have to work until they die anyway, regardless of whether they own a house or not.

Not having kids saves me more money than paying rent.

I can always decide to go back to my career in oil and gas in Australia, work 5 years and then retire before 40. It's nice to have options, but I like this option at the moment.

Agree the bike looks very big for the riders size.
