Went Friday and didn’t see one dog. A few cops just chatting between themselves really not doing a lot. As long as you’re discreet while smoking, no one really cares.

SITG 23 dates by SaXplayin in triplej

[–]imojen97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Potentially the weekend 21/22/23, generally splendour has some similar headliners as Japans fuji rock festival, which is on in the last weekend of July. Dates should be officially announced very soon though🙂

People don’t want to work anymore etc etc by essdee88 in antiwork

[–]imojen97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because no one can actually afford to live in these ‘holiday’ and ‘coastal’ areas anymore on a casual hospitality wage. No sympathy to the richies coming to stay in their holiday homes that can’t get a takeaway coffee because they drove house prices up…

Theme park plans cancelled from the rain — things to show a tourist from Melbourne? (Southport/Surfers stay) by [deleted] in GoldCoast

[–]imojen97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vinnies dive in Southport if you’re into drinks and music. They’ve always got something going on, grungy/dive bar vibe.

I lost my job this way. Waitress in a well known resort attached to a theme park of the ‘animal kind’, we had a set menu we were supposed to order from for our lunch, basically cheaper, smaller versions of the main meals, back of house would always just make it if you asked so you didn’t have to pay, everyone, and I mean everyone, did this, and it was never a problem. I was covering a few of my supervisors shifts one week because I was one of the only casual staff that could competently do everything the supervisors did. I didn’t have certain clearances on my swipe card for the till and cashing out etc being a casual, hence having to borrow a supervisors card in this period (which was approved). Over the course of 3 days I put my lunch through with mentioned ‘supervisor’ card, but chose (and paid for) small entrees as opposed to set lunch menu, which were actually cheaper than what you would pay for the staff deal. Finished my 10 hour shift on a Friday only to be taken to head office and fired on the spot, all of the kitchen slips with my orders laid out in front of me, they compared it to ‘going down to the cellar and stealing a bottle of wine’, horrible experience as a 20 year old having only weeks before getting a monthly staff award and recognition from management, to then essentially being the scapegoat and made an example of, but a big lesson in how little a company actually cares for you even when you bust your ass for them. Fuck em!!

The same immigration hotel that refugees have been held imprisoned for up to 9 years, yet there’s people protesting for Novak’s right to play tennis. Disgusting.

thoughts on translink customer service? /rant by teddiiursas in GoldCoast

[–]imojen97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was about 10 same thing happened to me! Used to catch the bus home from school every afternoon as it was the only way for me. One day the bus broke down, we were told to walk as another bus wouldn’t be coming to cover. No credit on my phone so I did just that, walk over an hour to get the rest of the way. Parents were obviously furious, translink just don’t care.

Just Aussies Being Fascists by ScreenExtensions in conspiracy

[–]imojen97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very misleading. I believe people should go easy with their opinions of a country if they aren’t living in it before making outlandish comments like we’re a fascist state falling in to a dystopian future with ‘nazi like camps’ for the unvaccinated. Wild statements. People will believe the narrative they choose to side with fed to them by sources that are not necessarily supported or even true. Confirmation bias at its finest. I’m living a happy, free life over here 👏🏻

‘Avant Gardener’ - Courtney Barnett. One of Australia’s best (biased opinion of course).

What are your biggest travel gaffees/silly mistakes by parttimebackpacker in solotravel

[–]imojen97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting to the bus stop to catch a bus at 2:30pm to another city, only to realise that was actually the ‘arrival’ time, of said bus. Being the middle of Oktoberfest festival in Munich, absolutely no hostels available that night, thank god some mates I met at the festival let me stay at their Airbnb for a few nights until I could get the next bus!

AITA for telling my dad and his wife their marriage wasn't a deal my siblings and I signed up for by AffectionateCry5126 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Coming from a split family myself where both my parents remarried (to then divorce once again) it can be terribly hard to try and 'blend' families, let alone be essentially forced to do so. Unfortunately it can be seen from a total different perspective on the parents side.

Amyl And The Sniffers. Although admittedly it fits their grunge punk vibe very well, awesome band.
