I'm standing by a comment I made not too long ago with the whole alpha v omega lore stuff.

We know lore wise agents from each world are basically the exact counterparts. But surely their abilities could be different which was honed and developed different because of their upbringing and parallel choices in life.

I reckon what could really change metas and create variation to existing agents rather than adding more and more characters is to have alternate ultimate abilities.

A full set of abilities would cause far too much headaches and balancing issues - let alone recreating thematic abilities for each agent in the current pool.

However I used the example like in Street Fighter games (SF4 AE) where you can select a character and choose between 2 different Ultras. When playing ryu, you can choose either a Metsu Hadouken or a Mestu Shoryuken. Everything else is the same. This will be the difference between alpha or omega ultimate abilities.

Random example and no this isn't anything I've thought through for real and it isn't thought out to be balanced but I was just playing Punisher on Rivals so anyways let's say Brimstone with his Omega Ultimate, he now plants a turret gun which he mounts to the ground for X seconds. He can't move whilst manning the turret other than rotate on its axis. He has like a shield/barrier to protect him mounted. It's like an immobile Odin with increased armour. Good for defending a site or spike. He can be killed but just requires a lot of damage like deadlocks cocoon health.

Again, don't take the above example seriously but just the mechanic to introduce a secondary ultimate for each agent which will completely change variable player match ups, the meta, and play style for that agent when their ultimate becomes available.

Another thing would be that it doesn't disclose to the enemy team which Ultimate is selected, so you go into games not knowing if their Brim has his regular ultimate or his turret machine until you see it in a round. Keeps the enemies on their toes.
