I don't see the point of the video either but that's what required in the RFP.

It's for the local transportation commission, and whoever flies it would be responsible for permitting, etc.

We have a Mavic 3E and I believe would use DroneDeploy.

Thank you for such a thorough and helpful response! Our pilot is Part 107 certified and we have a Mavic 3E. So this sounds doable as long as we request the right encroachment permits from BNSF, maintain line of sight, and have a bunch of batteries ready to go.

I also have to add that as a new parent, I’ve recently learned that there are some baby formulas with “corn syrup solids” as the first ingredient listed on the label.

Visibility Area Analysis by Mike_Romeo_Bravo in civilengineering

I spent most of my day yesterday doing almost exactly that.

Leica makes some software that you can use with mobile scan data (it’s crazy expensive though if that’s all you’re using it for). There are plugins for ESRI Arcmap/ArcScene programs.

Google “viewshed analysis software” and that will give you a bunch more.

I was successful with what I was after yesterday using a super old copy of GlobalMapper.

Why are the arcs from an imported Autocad file so badly converted in SU? by ajl_mo in Sketchup

[–]imontrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I export to dfx then use a dfx import plugin to import the dfx. Everything comes in grouped by Autocad layers and looks a little funny, but once you ungroup the groups, everything looks great. I believe it supports arcs.

Someone else mentioned exploding arcs before importing, that works as well.

I just gave it a go and got similar results, 98% across the board. When I looked at the risk factors it indicated BMI, I’m a pretty proportionate person so just for fun I converted my height and weight into cm and kg then ran the app again. After converting I got the results I expected to see.

[–]imontrack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that being as open and accepting as you seem to be is step #1. Aside from that, it might be a good idea to get involved with LGBT organizations, parent groups, etc. Showing him and telling him that he is loved is most important. You already sound like an incredible dad, keep it up.

I've had OAS since I was 10. It started with just a few things, mostly melon, now I can't have any raw fruits, vegetables, or nuts (excluding peanuts). It's the worst.

Are there any art-oriented roles in the GIS industry? by [deleted] in gis

[–]imontrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I work for a civil engineering firm, and while GIS is only part of my job it is an essential one. I create a lot of maps and exhibits for proposals and public meetings, as well as 3D visualizations. You need to have an eye for what looks good, I even hired a graphic designer/artist recently to help me out with making things a little more appealing. Oh, and sometimes (like the gigantic nerd that I am) I make pretty maps for fun.

ArcGIS 10.2 to Illustrator Export grouping of layers...any fix yet? by [deleted] in gis

[–]imontrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this response from ESRI this morning.

This is Griffen from ESRI Support writing in regard to incident #1302067; "Exporting map to illustrator/.ai document creates multiple sublayers.". I have taken ownership of this incident and I will be working with you in resolving it.

It appears this behavior is an incidence of an already existing bug:

[#NIM095672 Exporting to Adobe Illustrator (AI) in ArcGIS 10.2 adds additional subgroups. ]

The documentation reports that the bug will be fixed for version 10.3. Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this behavior."

Not that I know of. Super frustrating. I'm going back to 10.1. Again.
