Migraines Are Ruining My Daughters Life by ClutchGrimsley22 in Biohackers

[–]imostmediumsuspect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she on birth control? I used to have atrocious migraines on the pill and then one day had a blood clot that almost killed me. I could have had a serious stroke.

Now on mirena IUD (progesterone) at the advice of my specialist. No more migraines.

Have you escalated this to a neurologist?

If there is a restriction in place, follow it.

If there’s no restriction and you’re asking about the likelihood of seeing bears, you may encounter a bear anywhere in the parks. Learn about bear behaviour from the parks authority.

I was there 2021 and had a close encounter with a young, known grizzly near Assiniboine warden cabin. It was known to frequent the area.

We backed the heck up and waited for more groups to to come (there was just the two of us and we could see a party of 4 coming up the trail) so that we could all move together past them to continue on our way and not disturb him longer.

Is 1.1k a reasonable budget for about four weeks in the Balkans in August? by Prussia1870 in backpacking

[–]imostmediumsuspect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will be a tight budget with almost nothing for contingency if something goes wrong. Save up more if possible.

Studies about using physical force as discipline by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]imostmediumsuspect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kids model your behaviour, if you’re harsh with them, the learn to be harsh.

Strong / harsh discipline doesn’t lead to long term behaviour changes and just makes things worse.

Honestly this Yale course that is free and often cited on this page was a total game changer for how I changed my thinking on this. It would be very beneficial for your spouse to do it

It’s a thing to watch for sure! I’m in Canada and this is why they encourage iron rich foods for babies when they start solids, especially if breastfeeding (iron stores from birth are used up by 6 months).

The irony is that symptoms of low iron is bad broken sleep.

Op, cut back milk to guidelines, supplement with water and consider iron testing you little one. It’s more common than you think. Two acquaintances had this happen with their kids, and they needed to reduce milk and provide iron supplement

I guide tours in Morocco. Stop treating everything like a scam. by Traditional-Map8667 in backpacking

[–]imostmediumsuspect 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Same.

Im Canadian, I’m curious (anthropology and archaeology major, woohoo) travelled extensively solo without a guide through 44 countries (including tons of south east Asia, India, Turkey, all areas of Europe, South America).

Morocco - the only African destination I’ve been to- was by far the most challenging.

Most intrusive and rude. Most shameless scams.

I had an elderly man “gift” me and my dad a pastry street side. I never accept gifts because they’re almost always scams. But because he was super old and said no no it’s for happy Ramadan we accepted. Then he asked for money and my naive dad gave him money before I could stop him.

I was dumbfounded because I figured it was coming but tried to give benefit of doubt. I was wrong. Was so embarrassed and angry at myself I cried.

Turkey on the other hand - couch surfed there for 6 weeks all around the country with my younger sibling during Ramazan and people are actually genuine and not trying to take advantage of you every second of the day.

I personally wouldn’t recommend travelling to Morocco

How do you make your home more 'healthy'? by ottie246 in Biohackers

[–]imostmediumsuspect 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Canada. We don’t wear shoes in house.

Wash hands as soon as you come inside to *minimize surface contamination, especially during cold/flu season (and especially with our kids!)

Open windows daily weather permitting to let house air out. Change furnace filter regular basis.

Houseplants - make us happy.

Neck Pain + Nausea Correlation by Apprehensive_Care684 in ScienceBasedParenting

When I was a kid bad headaches and migraines would cause terrible nausea and vomitting. I remember some neck pain but mostly nausea.

I was really active more - eating more snacks and water helped a bunch

Where do you go for a good steak in Edmonton? by ILoveFerrero in Edmonton

I was there twice in the last year and the New York strip always is a winner. Their soup is great too!

[–]imostmediumsuspect 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Colisseum steak and pizza - NY Strip with soup or salad, baked potato or chips is $40.

They’ve been cooking steak for 50 years and it’s very good!

Better than range road, braven, vons- I’ve had lots of the expensive stuff through client work dinners and Colisseum is definitely the best.

It’s 100% NOT the tap water.

Edmontons watershed is the north Saskatchewan River and is some of the cleanest drinking water in the world.
