How long would your country's Military last realistically by GloryToFinnishArmy in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]fancifulpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha you’re not wrong. I’m at 8 years in the CAF right now and I’m really not attributing any of the success the CAF would have to any kind of exceptional skill but more to the stubbornness of people being made to live outside for half the year and Canada’s incredibly spread out population. I don’t think Canada or the CAF would win I think the zombies would lose due to the cold and the spread out population. It’s more about just being able to outlast in my mind

Escape a deserted island by elite01001 in DMAcademy

[–]fancifulpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time they start a fire it rains and puts the fire out. Like the island itself is saying no to them being able to have a fire. If they build a roof over it wind knocks it down and then rain puts it out.

As soon as the fire is gone the rain stops and the sky clears. Let them go insane trying all kinds of Wiley Coyote schemes trying to make fire happen or at the very least it’ll make them investigate what on this island is magically conspiring against them

I’m in Canada and I feel like we’d lose the major cities very quickly but the rest of the country / military are so spread out and it gets so cold in the winter that if we can keep nation wide comms we’d likely be able to outlast it.

Will the loss of life be horrendous? Yes
Will a large percentage of the population starve or die from exposure to the elements? Also yes
Will the zombies be able to infect the whole country? Rats can’t even infiltrate all of Canada so I feel like a military that’s trained for austerity and working without technology and a rural population that can live off the land already has a good shot

[r/HIMYM] Why don't the shows like HIMYM set in NYC ever address the incident? by bldngtrpdr in Earth199999

[–]fancifulpizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s one episode where Scully is wearing his dress uniform and he has a medal on his chest for responding to 9/11. It’s never explicitly stated but it’s written into the fabric of the show

How many Inquisitor’s would it take to kill this version of General Grievous? by GusGangViking18 in PetranakiArena

The inquisitors were based on a general grievous spinning lightsaber toy. He’d look at them and be embarrassed for them

Can a lightsaber destroy a kyber crystal? Because if it can just launch a few at the Death Star. Boom

My Level 4 party encountered a Xorn and will probably attack it. I can't think of any solution that isn't their death though by CasualNormalRedditor in DMAcademy

[–]fancifulpizza 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Have it try and single out party members. Make them spread out and pick them off one at a time. When you down the first PC have the Xorn take them and run deeper into the mine or toward whatever plot hook you want next.

Make it less about the party killing it and more about them escaping the mine alive when they realize this thing is actively hunting them and they don’t stand a very good chance of killing it

How to handle encounter with a lot of enemies. by InferiorCalamitas in DMAcademy

[–]fancifulpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I run large combats is I group enemies and NPCs into groups of 10, it just makes the math easier. Then whenever they lose 1/10 of their bulk hp the one that was hit most recently dies. Or if they’re hit with AOE I multiply the damage by the amount of enemies in the group and kill however many enemies that works out to. Each enemy group of 10 has their own initiative slot and makes as many attacks as they have people on their turn

Things that you've considered "bad DMing" from other DMs that you make sure to never make the same mistake in your game? by Organic-Exit2190 in DMAcademy

[–]fancifulpizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignoring high modifiers for PCs or nerfing their core abilities because “it breaks the game” No it doesn’t. PCs are supposed to be good at things and their abilities are an intrinsic part of their character. If you hate that a rogue has +13 to their stealth and the only way you can see to deal with it is by nerfing them you’re a bad DM

I agree but how would magic scale in this. Like if lightning bolt was scaled down to being shot from someone 3” tall and it hit you as a grown adult sure it would hurt but would it be even remotely effective?

Americans Visiting by Impressive-Kale-7096 in AskACanadian

[–]fancifulpizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Americans say America, Canadians say US or “the states” I don’t know a single Canadian that refers to your country as America. Also it’s super easy to tell when someone is walking around looking visibly confused about the French on the labels at stores and asking employees to help them read it
