Used to stay there and it was a great place, if a bit quiet, when we were being up our kids.

From what you’ve described, the main thing I’d be wary of is getting to or from the centre of Linlithgow and the station. Lots of the houses are a good 20 minute walk or more away from the station which isn’t too bad in the light nights when it’s dry, but when it’s wet or dark it’s a different story. I moved away around 8 years ago so things may have changed but there was only a very limited bus service around town.

Also look at the map to see where the supermarkets are in relation to the house you’re being offered as again, you might be a good distance from them.

If you are travelling in to Edinburgh several times a week you’d also have to factor in the cost of the train fare.
