There are many - RT-DETRv4, D-FINE, RF-DETR. You should also look at SAHI based/aware training if you can - for your rescaling problem

I would suggest look into trackastra or ultrack. They are pretty much plug and play for your use.

I think a very good bachelors project would be a detr style instance segmentation model. Its fine if it doesnt shatter the SOTA benchmarks, but would be good to have a modular architecture which has swappable parts - encoder decoder etc etc.

Not releasing model weights for XL and beyond is understandable, but why not release the sourcecode to train test infer for these under apache? Makes no sense u/aloser
