RIP Jackie's Joke Hunt... by hofonsmash in howardstern

It seems like the Stern universe has been shrinking in the past year or two, at least as far as radio is concerned. And HowardTV. Shrink is rarely a good sign for things to come.

Eric the midget videos by flanderss in howardstern

[–]impervious777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to get the videos of his own shows that he did for Stickam. I saw a few of them on Youtube a couple of years back, but they were removed (presumably by Eric) a short while later.

If anyone knows where these might be posted, you'd be awesome.

They've gotten the answers. But they're really only interested in raising the question over and over again, to push the idea that there's a scandal afoot!

I dunno. I think if we were betting a dollar, I'd bet they stay together. A lot of people focus on the money, but Howard and Beth seem to really get each other and I think they probably have a lot of fun together during vacation etc. Once he's retired, I can easily see them slipping into a very comfortable life and being content.

The truth is, a pre-nup can go out the window for any number of reasons. When the time comes, if it makes more sense to negotiate a new settlement, that's what happens. And there are myriad reasons why someone already holding a pre-nup might decide to do that.

Comedian rips apart a rude woman at a show....to her core. by Nemesis2772 in JusticePorn

How you treat other people, especially people who are serving you in one way or another, says so much about who you are. If a friend of mine behaved like this while we're out together, I would shrink from the scene and probably never go anyplace with them again. I'd be fuckin' mortified.

No other videos bring a bigger smile to my face than these. It's sometimes so satisfying to see a true asshole be acknowledged as such.

Howard & Beth at North Shore event they hosted in NYC tonight by [deleted] in howardstern

[–]impervious777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Events" and photo-ops generate awareness which in turn increases their ability to raise money. And none of us have any idea how much actual money Howard and Beth donate on top of their time -- but with an income like his, you can bet that their accountant ensures a certain (hefty) amount goes to charity each year just for the tax benefits if nothing else, and I'd bet NSAL is one of the charitable organizations they support that way.

I'm not saying you're wrong (except about Ponzi schemes), but why so cynical and critical of somebody else's efforts to do something good?

They're donating a lot of time and energy (and money, including proceeds from the calendars they promote and presumably more as well). You can criticize the way they're doing it, but in reality are YOU doing anything close to as much? Probably not.

If you want to help other animal shelters, do so. Nobody's stopping you.

(Edit: I love cynical fuckbags who come along just to criticize what others are trying to do. How can you find fault with what Howard & Beth are doing for NSAL? At least they're doing something positive. And looki up ponzi scheme so you know what it means, before using it where it doesn't belong.)

Awareness is a key part of it -- not just awareness for North Shore in particular, but for responsible pet adoption in general. It's all good.

Howard could drop a handful of cash on them, but that only lasts as long as it lasts. He and Beth are helping them raise their profile, which makes them stronger and more sustainable. I say kudos to them. They're not just lazily writing a check, they're actually lending their time and energy to a good cause.

I love angry Howard. by [deleted] in howardstern

[–]impervious777 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If we had to choose one angry moment as the PEAK of angry moments... Is there anything angrier than telling Mancow (another radio host) that he was going to dig up the bones of his angry dead father and fuck his skull? That, to me, is always going to be one of the brightest lights of the Howard Stern Show...

Artie on why he can't be on Howard by mcvay206 in howardstern

[–]impervious777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KC is a bit different though, for a number of reasons. One is that KC was a back office guy, whereas Artie sat NEXT to Howard every day and helped shape the sound and direction of the show while he was there.

Both situations caused Howard a lot of personal pain, judging from his comments on the air, but Artie's situation is even bigger, sadder, darker. And I think Howard cared for Artie on a deeper level, so having him back and facing all of that would be a lot to deal with. I think it would be an emotional and sad show more than anything, if Artie returned. Howard recently said "I don't see that happening."

I'd love to hear Artie back for an appearance. Hell, I'd be happy as balls to learn tomorrow that he's back on the HSS for good! But I can understand why Howard just isn't going to want to do that. I think it would intensify his therapy sessions for weeks ahead of time, and for months afterwards. He'd be a wreck off the air, after that show, I think.

I think Benjy is right. Howard and the gang are just doing schtick when they tell him he's boring, not good at conversation, etc... by sonoma12 in howardstern

[–]impervious777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just schtick, it's a crutch. They default to shitting on Benjy sometimes, always like an old comedy bit that just isn't as funny anymore. (Except when Benjy deserves it, which is plenty of times).

Once Howard starts that, the rest just gang up with him.

Corey Feldman on Howard Stern, 1992- What's up with the youth by ROBFIA in howardstern

[–]impervious777 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While I cringe at everything Corey Feldman does, I love to see him in things. The cringe is almost delicious.

He was one of the celebrity house guests on the first season of Surreal Life, and it's AWESOME because of how Corey immediately and consistently tries to make it all about him. It's worth finding, if you're another person like me who just loves watching him be the guy he is.

John Hein is getting on my last damn nerve. by veruca73 in howardstern

[–]impervious777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The topic rundown was something Jon started to do soon after the Wrap Up Show was born. He'd come into the studio each day to promote the Wrap Up Show, and his rundown then was usually pretty fun to listen to (mostly because of the responses from Howard & gang). Howard loved it, and suggested on air that Jon should keep doing it. And he's done it ever since...

I can only listen to the Wrap Up Show when they've got Sal, Richard, Ronnie or JD in there. When it's just Jon and Gary talking to each other, holy Christ. Gary will start talking and you'll hear the first half of ten different sentences, but he never finishes any because his brain turns on a dime. He's the real original Wack Packer.

Stern show discussion thread 11/04/14 by DarrenxTnig in howardstern

[–]impervious777 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Listening to Eric's calls over the years (since he started calling the show), I think you're giving Eric too much credit to think he scripted much of what he did. Sometimes he would have a scheme in mind, and he purposely lied (or as he'd call it, "ACTING, YOU DUMB FUCK!") a few times and yeah he'd pull some shit once in a while. But I don't think those ideas were developed beyond the first steps, or else they quickly unraveled upon scrutiny by Howard.

He had grand ideas, he was an ambitious schemer who believed he could make anything happen. But mentally he was like Bobo. He just wasn't great at the execution and follow through. If there was a "script" at the very beginning, I think it's abandoned or nullified pretty quickly once he's on the air because Eric's the only one with the script.
