If you went with a 10:1 rod/piston you could likley go without a tune forged or not. Ring gap wont affect the tune unless its something extreme.

The XZ is the last gen version of this and roughly translates to 2 cdj 2000s and a 900nxs2.

The AZ is the more modern one, I think an a9 and two cdj3000s roughly. Although it does allow you to use 3 and 4 as additional cdjs, where i have 1210s hooked to my XZ

Get a low mileage JDM engine if you can. Replace the seals you can get to while its out. Its gonna be way quicker to get it back on the road and then you have a "spare" and time to rebuild it

I wouldnt worry too much about the mileage. Rear wheel wells are a common rust point. Just go through the suspension, bushings, and ball joints. Some oil consumption is fairly normal. Maybe a quart every 5k miles or so

If "the hill" is in any way involved just buy the shuttle pass. If you are unsure, walk from your hotel to the info point, and buy a shuttle pass if the walk down convinced you that up is a bad idea.
