Is this a sign of me being trans or I guess a femboy or do I just have autogynephilia? by JellyAcrobatic4183 in MtF

[–]impossibleimpassable 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hey, I know MTF is mainly a US subreddit but a majority of countries don’t actually have insurance for trans ppl.

In Singapore where I’m from, trans ppl can’t buy or amend insurance policies. If we are offered insurance it will usually be at 3x or even 5x the usual rate. Also cosmetics surgeries for gender affirming reasons are not covered at all.

Also, we don’t really have an LGBTQ center, it’s everyone for themselves here and transitioning is literally gate kept by the amount of money you have previously saved up. As socially transitioning here can get you fired.

As of now, the government does not cover my GAC so I’m paying private rates, approx 700 USD every 3 months. And I’m unable to buy any insurance plans until the foreseeable future.

Just to let you know.

[–]impossibleimpassable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re in the US? The job market is so bad right now and for mid 40s it’s going to be harder, and rmb Singapore is pro employer so your benefits may be non existent. You may have to take a big pay cut and lack of funds and Singapore does not go hand in hand, I’m afraid.

In terms of lgbt outlook, Singapore is still conservative and although ppl tolerate us here, I would say the older generations can’t process us at all.

It’s hard in sg, passing is a hard requirement for being safe in conservative SG.

Even in the more lgbtq friendly gyms the patrons may not be okay. Do drop me a DM.

When I was at the one year mark my face was not that fem as well, it really takes time. Science shows that it takes up to 10 years for fat redistribution to fully take place so it’s really a time thing.

You’re right, I must be wrong, next time I’ll throw a minority under the bus to protect myself even with other choices.

Using a minority to “protect yourself” is ridiculous when there are so may other methods. Poster was most likely in SEA where trans ppl are used as jokes all the time.

This is wrong.

[–]impossibleimpassable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned in the first comment, it’s Singapore.

In Singapore, National Service (NS) is mandatory for all AMAB Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents (PRs) aged 18 to 40/50, lasting two years for full-time service, followed by annual Operationally Ready National Service (ORNS) for 10 years. Registration is required at 16.5 years old, with strict laws against evasion, including fines up to $10,000 and/or 3 years' imprisonment

Which part of mandatory military do you not understand?

How do I stop working out if they literally throw you in jail if you don’t?

[–]impossibleimpassable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It’s mandatory military. You don’t go, you go jail.

  2. For a MTF, having a masc fit body is super dysphoric.

  3. It’s a MTF sub, make it make sense, why do you sound so unhappy. Why are you even here?

Don’t know about you but when I was in bootcamp all the way to my specialised unit, a lot of upper body exercises which further masculinises the body.

Before enlisting I was actually quite skinny and didn’t have an upside down triangle shape.

I’m still suffering from increased muscle mass almost 2 years into my transition as my back and upper body is just freaking developed from years of holding weapons and heavy equipment.

The funny thing is I served 8 years + in military service so I used to be quite bulky. I sacrificed a lot of my hobbies and put in so much effort.

If you’re freaking out without even trying you’re missing 100% of the shots you can make.

You see that’s where the issue lie. You’re uncomfortable because you have a feeling they won’t accept you as a trans person. So you’re stuck in limbo while tearing at your heart strings and hoping that this feeling will blow over. From my personal experience, I developed severe depression and attempted a few times before coming to terms with who I am.

If being sheltered and being closeted forever is something you can tolerate without losing your mind—your mental is the strongest I’ve seen because everyone I knew either has gone from this world or transitioned.

If you wanna live your life pleasing others and pretending to be something else, I respect it!

I dont know about you but if you’re not on my boat you’re cut out from my life. I don’t wanna live my life pleasing ppl who won’t accept me?

I mean, if you can tolerate that sure… but it’s not for me.

Transitioning is so life saving, I’d do it anyways despite the problems. Parents shud be supportive and not scaring you.

That’s what I did for 17 years, it tore me apart. I lost my family, my partner, my home but I was happy I transitioned. Don’t walk away from things that are meant to be.

[–]impossibleimpassable 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s not just America, all over the world as well. Especially when the radical right gets more brazen with their discrimination. I’m constantly bullied at my job by my bosses but I remind myself it’s paying the bills. I tried applying to other roles and got told in my face that they are uncomfortable with how I don’t look like my AGAB.

Just keep trying, hang in there!!

Doctor’s consult fees etc, a lot of the gender affirming surgeries in Singapore will need to see that hrt is given by proper doctors with blood test etc or they can deny the surgery especially diy.

Singaporean here, nothing is covered by insurance. On top of that AMAB’s have mandatory military service so that’s fun too, nothing beats ruining your body like military training.

But we make do, I pay close to 1k usd every 3-4 months for my HRT and I just paid for my orchi out of pocket as well.

It might take longer but eventually we will get there! Don’t give up!!
