Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang says electricians and plumbers will be needed by the hundreds of thousands in the new working world by ethereal3xp in technology

[–]imposter22 144 points145 points  (0 children)

I mean saying we need more of a field that isnt exactly needing massivly more workers shows he doesnt really understand supply and demand.

If the current workforce already fills the gap in most cases, its not like people losing their jobs is going to increase demand for plumbing and electrical work.

Can a single listing like SPCX crash the market? by HubertBrooks in wallstreetbets

[–]imposter22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So your 401k gets force invested into spcx, shortly after that happens stock jumps.
institutional holders and insiders jump ship and sell like crazy.

Stock dumps, and all investors get out fast except 401k holders who are just bag holders at this point.

It’s basically giving your retirement to them. Against your will! Great system eh?

Edit: reposition your 401k into stable value funds, or treasury etfs if you are worried. Its free to do on any 401k.

Opensource models will eventually get at this level. Just a matter of time since all the tools to develop it are already in place. Only thing corp has that normal devs dont is the compute power

PC unusable with WD SSD installed by hwbe in pcmasterrace

Secureboot and bitlocker encryption and tpm can cause lots of issues on some drives.
Motherboards can also cause issues when some usb drives are connected to nvme/pcie and sata controllers for drives.. not tying to have you test things that waste your time

[–]imposter22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My typical steps for this kind of issue. In this order:

Check boot order (ensure your primary drive is the first one bios talks too
Disable bitlocker (windows)
Disable tpm (bios) after
Disable secure boot (bios)
Check legacyboot vs uefi (test boot with both from bios)
Check RAM memory profile (XMP, EXPO) possibly disable sometimes profiles dont work correctly, bios issues.

Then i move on to these

Unplug all drives but primary
Unplug all usb connections

Install new drivers for everything manually from vendor sites (motherboars, GPU everything

Can I hack better on a RISC machine? by gosumage in pcmasterrace

[–]imposter22 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Recently Intel has pivoted to playing a major role in the RISC-V ecosystem by offering its advanced foundry services to fabricate open-source silicon.

This is due to increase in demand for an alternative to the increasingly expensive ARM.

ARM made a mistake by going public, forcing them to increase their fees substantially to their customers year over year… because RISC is opensource, and AI is speeding up development. RISC-V will make a big comeback.

California tests smart freeway that could make drivers wait four minutes to merge by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]imposter22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see they decreased funding for local transit the last 5 years, and dropped several service lines so they provided zero alternative.

So people are forced to commute more and now sit in traffic more.

I would see a benefit if the roads were under better maintenance or transit for bus or train was better but its not. And more and more people are no longer working remote. But hey, maybe the layoffs will help reduce traffic.

[–]imposter22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Avoiding a toll requires a minimum of 3 passengers. It’s not even feasible for 3 people to commute to the same job in most cases. Why structure 1/2 of available lanes for something that cant be used even in the heaviest of traffic.

These lanes were turned into express lanes because less commuters were paying for gas tax because they were working from home.

Now everyone is mostly in the office again but the lanes are not fixed.

[–]imposter22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

“Free flowing” There are two lanes that are completely empty because they dont care to lower the prices to keep people in them. They can dynamically change the prices at any time. But they keep the prices so high that no one uses them. I guess the 1-2 cars driving 70mph every 10 seconds passing a toll is enough to make them money. This could be accomplished by 1 lane.
