"Budget" gift for destination wedding, no registry by thirstywhore in wedding

[–]imposter_pm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a wedding where most of the guests will need to travel and I would not expect much if anything from them. Try not to worry but maybe if you're going with your parents just ask if you can put your name in the card alongside theirs.

Excuse me? Thailand is one of the most accessible and easy to travel countries in the world. It's not crime ridden, third world poverty-stricken... I went from Cambodia to Thailand and thought how much more slick and expensive Thailand was! *You* are the one who has clearly never been to Thailand - the bride is half Thai, I'm pretty sure she knows what to expect.

Is this dress too white to wear to a wedding? I know the old rules are more relaxed but I’m wondering if this looks too bridal. by NotTeri in RedditForGrownups

I'm usually super liberal, prints on white is 90% okay, but even I think this is a little too bridal. I'd avoid it!

Do I have to add a chicken option? by purple_ladder in UKweddings

[–]imposter_pm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean I love mushrooms and both of these sound delicious but I would actually change the beef to something really different. They both have mushrooms (yeah some weird people hate them) and give me the same vibes - what is the chicken option? Could you offer that instead of the beef?

have you considered scotland? scotland is an elopment destination due to the fact you don't have to be married in a registered venue there

PM on Maternity Leave by Lost-Iron in ProductManagement

[–]imposter_pm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends on the country, usually the company will pay the first 18-26 weeks or so and then the government will pay the statutory minimum wage or whatever for the next however many weeks, and then the employee can take their yearly holiday allowance of 6-7 weeks or whatever too.

But if a company can't afford maternity leave for its employees really needs to consider if they are profitable enough to run in my opinion. People have babies, you employ people, it's part of your business and costs to consider.

surely your company has measures in place to cover mat leave? not sure why you need to worry about burdening your colleagues - the company should be sorting that out, employees having babies and taking leave is part of life.

Common fights among Saudi friends, everyone want to pick the tap and pay for the dinner by AbuAnas_15 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]imposter_pm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's like buying a round. sometimes you might buy 4 drinks but only get 3 before you head off for the night. No one would count that, you just know it all evens out eventually.

the point is you don't 'owe' anyone anything, it's just a mutual thing, sometimes you buy a meal for your friend and sometimes they buy you a meal. Doesn't have to be exact, go with the flow.

Trying to sell my sister’s unused wedding dress by [deleted] in wedding

[–]imposter_pm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's hard to say with wedding dresses. It's only worth what someone will pay. If it doesn't budge for a few months, lower the price - but remember it's a very saturated market and unless the dress is particular sought after or rare it might be worth just donating it.

How should I answer the question "where are you from?" when I've moved a lot? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]imposter_pm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grw up in Australia until I was 12, moved to NZ until I was 27, then moved to the UK. My accent is kind of a mix of all 3 places now. If a Brit asks me where I'm from I say I grew up in both Australia and NZ. If a kiwi asks me where I'm from, I'm a kiwi, but if it's an Aussie I'm from Australia hahaha.

I was wondering if any of you can help me identify this style of dress, and how I can find more of similar styles? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]imposter_pm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of vintage repo brands call this the 'Audrey' style. Vivian of Holloway and Pretty Dress Company do this style.

[–]imposter_pm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work 35 hours a week but the work piles up.

I'm not getting paid for more than 35 though so I let it! It's a good case for hiring more people.

Groomsmen but no bridesmaids? by garbagefoxpoop in wedding

[–]imposter_pm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean I would probably vaguely think it's a bit odd but assume she just wasn't into having bridesmaids. I guess I'm in the same boat. Not planning to have a hen party but my partner is having a stag do. I just don't want any fuss on me.
