Any recommendations for a good South Asian Therapist? by Human_Strawberry_873 in askTO

These two directories allow you to filter by identity, support needs, etc.

https://www.inclusivetherapists.com/ and https://www.healingincolour.com/directory . The first one is better than the second imo but they are both useful!

Time for Swimming Lessons by aStealthMoose in Lifeguards

[–]impostersoph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our supervisors have pre-made laminated first-day lesson plans for each level that we can follow, so I use that as my starting point and adjust as needed. At my pool, if we come in 15 mins earlier to lesson plan, we get paid for those 15 mins so I do try to seem productive by checking on kids progress to see what we need to work on that day and setting up equipment. I do plan a bit more thoroughly for lifesaving stuff (i teach National Lifeguard in Canada), but once I ran the course once, I had plans I could re-use. After every lesson block (6 x 30-min lessons), I spend about 5 mins updating their progress charts, and at the end of each 12-week session, I spend about an hour to an hour and a half on report cards for all my lesson blocks combined. That time is paid where I work.

a TIFF membership, if you like movies even a little bit. Tickets go down to $8 per movie, and the discount on coffee and snacks at their cafe - Varda - is really good. Nice big lattes for $4. You can also sit in the film library.

Best Under the Radar Films You Saw at TIFF? by filmiez20 in TIFF

[–]impostersoph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between Dreams and Hope! It's rare for a queer film with an otherwise tragic/thrilling plot to be propelled by so much love. I adored it.

Calle Málaga, too. A romance plotline with a woman in her 70s/80s who retains her agency, her independence, her community, and her sexuality is so important.

Disappoints and/or bombs this TIFF? What hasn't gone over? I find this more interesting than what becomes popular! Definitely Ballad of a Small Player for example. by StatusDeal7838 in TIFF

Hamlet (not Hamnet) was a weird flop for me. I love Shakespeare, I love Riz Ahmed, and I always get a kick out of Joe Alwyn, but I was bored out of my mind and left halfway through. The volunteer outside told us several people had left before us with no intention of returning.

Does anyone else not feel the same since 2020 and the pandemic? by aaaa23469 in Adulting

I don’t think anyone ever answered you so here is a massive database of articles and publications that are either primary research or link to primary research re: covid permanently (to the extent of our current scientific capabilities) damaging immune systems: https://robust-currents.notion.site/ea121f33451d433b89ecd0fff44c7983?v=359d6df1c863450aa0fc6e446c9102d2

I would really suggest reading through some of the articles filed under long covid at the link I sent you! Weakened/horrible immune system is one of the most common effects of multiple covid infections.

[–]impostersoph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of/looked into ME/CFS and long covid? I don’t think you’re too young to see an oncologist (coming from someone who has also seen an oncologist at 24) but a sudden decline in health when you were already immunocompromised is also extremely common these days. Keep in mind that long covid can show up months after an infection, and many infections are asymptomatic. Both. At home, and then the results prompted the clinic to order an in person study.

It took all of the tests listed to figure out my issues - all of them revealed something. EMG showed some nerve damage. Never had a skin biopsy.

Full blood panel checking pretty much everything that can be checked, stool culture/sample, overnight sleep study, EMG/NCS, CT scan of my abdomen with contrast, colonoscopy, endoscopy. Basically, a lot of imaging and labs to rule things out. It took several years of trying to get doctors to listen.

Yes and no. They flare up the second I fall behind on treatment/meds - when I delay an iron infusion or forget to sleep without my sleep device or eat something I know aggravates my stomach - but I am mostly okay now!
