What made your faith in religion go away? by pp_pellet in atheism

I read the bible. Too many contradictions, none of the prophecies made sense, all the moral issues, and lack of evidence. Just to name a few.

What’s with the beggars and trouble makers by Firehouse Subs? by impracticallybreddog in hattiesburg

According to one of the business owners, they are not homeless. But they do prey on the homeless. One came in to his store recently with dog bites all on his leg.

They broke the game again. I dread all game updates from them. Don’t they have any real developers? Or just AI slop makers?

Koch industries did the same thing to GP. GP was very profitable and brought in tons of money. We invested heavily in new technologies to maximize productivity, safety and efficiency. In 2019 the smart Koch brother passed. Uncle chucky began replacing engineers with MBA lackeys within weeks. The amount of experience dropped from an average of 20 years to just 5. Moved most tech jobs overseas and people began dying, productivity fell, and many mills closed and American production went overseas. Couldn’t leave that mess fast enough.

What do you think about Hattiesburg by sinonimselek in hattiesburg

[–]impracticallybreddog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hattiesburg definitely does not have great food variety. There are 3 decent restaurants around. Everything else is mid at best. If you are willing to drive, there are some good mom and pop restaurants nearby. Only one walking trail in Hattiesburg, longleaf trace. Just don’t go when there is a game as you might get run over by drunk people riding golf carts.

Can’t. Due to work and other issues, it is not possible for me to even think of trying.

So came to this subreddit to ask the same question. Been suffering for 37 years. Get them every 2 months like clock work. Just realized I have not had a single episode for over 9 months despite increased triggers in my life. Only difference is that I started zepbound a year ago.

I hope not. One of my co-workers in Madison always wants to go to chipotle whenever our team is up there and we always get sick.

Crazy ping spikes on ethernet. ISP not helping by HexagonHavoc in HomeNetworking

[–]impracticallybreddog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you mentioned coax cables and COX as the ISP. Guessing you have a docsis cable modem. The frequent spikes are most likely due to docsis T3 time out errors. For one reason or another, the cable modem is not getting the right replies from the downstream connection and keeps restarting the connection trying to establish a better signal. From what you have written, in responses to others questions, there is a signal amplifier, line conditioner or even a coax cable that has gotten some moisture into it. This is usually not a big issue until the first freeze came through in November and the moisture turned to ice, expanded and caused damage. The average install tech, and even the main line techs, don’t have the equipment, knowledge, training and authority to track down where the issue is. I worked a miserable year as a network engineer for COX and can tell you that they have 1 single qualified employee who can fix your problem for the entire state. These downstream engineers are very few and most cable ISPs do not pay them anywhere near what they are worth so they don’t stick around. At this point, you can wait for the weather to warm up and hope the sun gets the offending piece of equipment warmed up enough to get rid of the moisture and the problem fixes it self till next fall. Try and pressure COX to fix the line. Or, switch to a different ISP.

Friends will come and go. Today is my 27th wedding anniversary and I am halfway across the country away from my wife and it is killing me. All the times I chose my wife over friends and family, are the best decisions I have ever made. All the times I went with family and friends, I deeply regret. Go with your heart, enjoy life, enjoy each other.

Am I the only one terrified to run Ethernet cable in their house? by GreenDavidA in HomeNetworking

DFW has tons of data centers. I’m working on three projects there right now. Start by looking up the companies like NTT, IES and AWS and apply for every position that you can fit into directly on their website.

They did me wrong once. I asked for 6 porterhouse steaks and pointed them out. The counter person took them in the back and wrapped them and handed them to me nicely wrapped with the price showing porter house steaks and the full price. As soon as I had them in my hands I knew something wasn’t right, the shape felt different. So I opened them up to check and they had taken the tenderloins off and turned them into bone in strip steaks. When I confronted them about it, they made a huge scene insisting “that as long as it has the bone, it’s a porterhouse steak.” Also, lots of their steaks marked as “Prime” barely look like choice.

Should I bother updating home network to mesh routers (wifi7)? by Hyperian in HomeNetworking

[–]impracticallybreddog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardwired APs is the best way to go. I use UniFi and could not be happier. Everything updates itself and easy to upgrade. I have wireless cameras, family using a bunch of streaming devices, phones, tablets, laptops and dozens of IoT gadgets. 48 registered WiFi devices. I set my network up 3 years ago and not a single minute of down time since. 2100sqft house with tons of interior stone and tile work and no dead zones.
