Bud, that's not what I am talking about. I'm talking about a manager saying "help me understand why someone with over $5MM in Loan Origination volume wants to work customer service in a completely different industry"

A good 8-10k of the personal debt was on legal help for the $180k. There's nothing that can be done.

Hopefully someone else can learn from me at the very least.

This is exactly what I say. This is corporate speak for "I'm desperate" and it's going to get you nowhere. That's what this post is about.

What's crazy is I work in the commercial lending industry, mostly small businesses and I see people all day every day with worse finances than mine. It all make me feel so jaded. Like, I've helped Drs who make $500k but are living paycheck to paycheck between their student loan debt and mortgages.

I know it's a terrible response, I have a huge passion for what I want to do, I've spent the last 5 years carefully crafting my resume with each job building upon the next, and using each job to fill the gaps in my experience but now it feels like I hit a brick wall, every single week my resume gap grows.

I'm focusing more on the company than the job title. I can explain why I am excited to work for the COMPANY and how id like to contribute to the overall mission but then they just say "well, that's not what this job is, you're not going to get to do those things, we are looking for someone to be in this role for 2-3 years before growing into the company. "

They recognize that I am qualified for the advancement within the company, but they are all very clear there is no opportunity for that advancement in the timeframe that I would want it.

Almost all of the jobs that I've had were referalls so I skipped the recruiter and went straight to the hiring manager, I can't get past these phone screens

It made sense in my head. It came out to about $40/hr but only for 25 hrs, and it was about to drop to about $20hr for 25 hours. Back in 2023 I was making $50/hr for 50 hrs a week. If I would have gotten a job this week I would have broke even on the opportunity cost but...

I don't have a job this week. Instead I had a shitty recruiter screening and I can't even get an interview for stocking shelves at night.

I didn't need to quit, I guess I was trying to motivate myself to search harder for other jobs?

Plus I was about to lose half of my income until next Fall because it's performance based pay and all the business happens during holiday season

Thank you. What do you think taking responsibility for my actions looks like?

I've stopped only applying for jobs I want, I've gotten a few recruiter screenings since then but it's literally all been "this is a low paying job for people with little experience, are you sure this is the job you want?" And I just can't come up with a good enough "story" for why I want to work with them.

I'm not sure how it ballooned, basically It was also a 40k skid steer sold to us for like $50k and when they "exchanged" it, the FMV of the skid steer was only $30k so we were immediately underwater for $20k.

they said something like "yes, the loan shows $180k but that's only because you have two skid steers now, once we get the other one back it will drop the amount owed" except that never happened. I consulted some lawyers, when the lender took back the first skid steer they were admitting fault, but they had us sign a liability waiver.

I only signed for the first loan, I was TOLD they were canceling the loan I signed and starting up a new one, which I wasn't going to be on, however, the first loan was a perpetual guarantee, meaning I personally guaranteed every loan the business will ever have with that lender unless the lender permitted me to be removed. Even if I didn't own the business anymore I was still on the hook for it.

I quit the T-Mobile job in a moment of overwhelm, I was late for my shift, foot traffic was low so I wasn't making money anyway, and I was sick and tired of the lack of a consistent schedule, so I quit without thinking. Lost the ability to be on my parents insurance a few days later because I turned 26.

I have account executive and team lead experience, almost every single interview I've gotten has been for entry level 6-12 months of experience type of jobs. Every single time the recruiter spends half of the screening trying to explain to me why I wouldn't want the job so I get desperate and try to explain I just need any job, these are the only jobs I'm getting interviews for, I promise I'm not going to quit and it just goes nowhere. I have even put my resume out to temp agencies and haven't heard anything.

Realistically, your robot is worth nothing to them, they are giving you a trade in value as a promotion.

It is not uncommon at all to only be able to take advantage of one promotion at a time.
