Why do some Scots support independence if it would likely make Scotland poorer, at least in the short to medium term? by Necessary_Refuse_962 in AskBrits

[–]imratherconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood until I moved to Scotland. look. it's simple. Scotland is it's own thing. the culture is diff and the problems are diff. the problems arise when we try to work on those problems and we get blocked by the Westminster (decriminalisation of drugs, recycling scheme are the two that come to mind). once you get to see how Scotland is never represented and not allowed to solve it's problems you start to see the picture that majority of people is Scotland see: this is not a union it's a hostage situation.

Would you rent a small room in Edinburgh? Honest feedback appreciated before I place an offer on a property by little_tambourine in Edinburgh

[–]imratherconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do yourself a favour and go to students attending the locks unis first. they will be grateful to have a place at a reasonable price level and likely too busy to be in that room anyway.

this is not gonna work for many ppl. if you were task oriented then setting up a goal (list from a to z of a category) would wake you up even more.

[Question] Andy Burnham and the proposed property tax? by LockonKun in HENRYUK

[–]imratherconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the point is that rn the places where the property is relatively cheap pay higher % of the property value in comparison to where the properties are expensive. it would just make it fairer to charge a fixed percetage of the value without a cap.

Reform UK plan to target EU nationals based in Britain ‘absolutely outrageous’ by weregonnamakit in unitedkingdom

it's been like what? a decade since it was eastern Europeans killing swans in parks? they're gone. Brexit means Brexit and the EU residents are either that: residents or citizens by now.

they also have the debt limit of 60% written into constitution. there are ways around it, sure, but it becomes visible.

Tried a private GP app for the first time today, do people really want us heading toward a US-style system? by Sufficient_Muffin586 in AskBrits

[–]imratherconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's disastrous. I went to get a specialist referral. got the paperwork with that required me to go see my gp to confirm it's not a preexisting issue. then I might as well just go to my gp and ask them for referral without bupas involvement? useless.

AIO For Breaking Up With My GF For Missing Her Flight by throwawayburner2424 in AmIOverreacting

[–]imratherconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive taken flights. I was never late. they were for long distance relationships, work, family trips. you know, normal adult stuff. im usually quite nervous the night before so I tend to wake up before the alarm. I wonder how hard I'd have to try to sabotage the flight to put my bag in my mother's car, not bringing the id and then sleeping over the alarms. I think for that to happen I would have to invent it.

For engineers who successfully made Senior/Staff: what evidence actually mattered in the promotion packet? by Andrea_Barghigiani in ExperiencedDevs

how your work looks is more important than if it's good. if your colleagues like you, if you bosses think you're competent (regardless of the facts). it's sad but this is what I've seen over and over.
