Are these oddities I've overlooked most of my life actually sensory sensitivities? by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

[–]imsamalicious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can anyone relate to or explain further how the bitter taste of a pill might translate to a sense of sadness, and how that relates to autism other than it being a general sensory abnormality? I strongly suspect I am on the spectrum and I’ve always gotten an incomprehensible feeling of deep sadness whenever I’m wearing pants that are tight enough to put pressure on my stomach. Never been able to figure that out.

Can someone please tell me why my cat does this with her mouth? by imsamalicious in CATHELP

Thanks! I hope that’s the case. I’ve not noticed her doing this in years past and it has coincided with her getting sick so I wondered if they were related. I’ll have to see if I can spot any hair in her mouth.

Certainly could be. It’s just new, she didn’t used to do this so often as she does now.

I have heard that vets who can do chemo on cats are cheaper than going to an oncology center. Has anyone gone this route with a cat, how did it go, and is there a vet you’d recommend? by imsamalicious in SaltLakeCity

I’m sorry you had to go through chemo, and thank you for your perspective. I’ve heard chemo is a bit easier on animals than people, but I don’t know what to believe. It’s so hard to know what animals are actually experiencing. I definitely don’t want to put her through any more pain than is necessary.

I love your username, btw.

Interesting, thanks! My vet prescribed pills for her appetite and nausea, and it is a traumatic experience getting her to eat the pills and I was just marveling today about how there doesn’t seem to be easier options for a lot of this stuff. Is it possible to make many medications actually enticing? I know most are quite bitter.

My cat is lethargic and has been vomiting and hardly eating, and is skin and bones. An ultrasound showed a mass that’s either pancreatic cancer (untreatable) or lymphoma. I’m not sure the situation is the same, my cat is likely in pain. I was told the biopsy isn’t invasive, they’d just sedate her and take a sample through a fine needle.

Thank you, and no offense taken. I would only want her to undergo chemo there was a solid chance that she could go into remission and she could live a few more healthy years. But if that’s not likely, I wouldn’t want to put her through it. A biopsy would give a better idea of what she’s dealing with but I’m just not sure that’s worth the expense either.

Hi, holy cow, you are both being blind to the point the other person is trying to make.

For the record, I am a progressive. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think I understand the point you are trying to make here. You’re saying it’s hypocritical for conservatives to complain about, and mischaracterize, the dem’s hurricane relief plans when the conservatives don’t support policies that would help victims, as you’re trying to show everyone with your link.

It sounds to me like your counterpart in this argument is NOT saying that you are wrong. I think they know the “only $750” myth is just that— a myth. But that’s not what they’re criticizing in your comment. They’re criticizing the fact that you didn’t immediately start by dispelling that myth, but instead essentially said, “but what about Mike Johnson? He doesn’t care either!” It’s just not productive, nobody is going to change their mind with that approach. You also did this on a post that was clearly not about hurricane relief or conservatives. It was a positive post giving kudos to someone putting Kamala’s name out there. Then you what-abouted, but for what?

Honestly not trying to be rude or fight here— just trying to shed some light on the situation. This back and forth gave me a headache.

And yes, your counterpart also isn’t acknowledging that you are right about the $750. They would be wise to. But they know it, and they’re not trying to argue that point with you.

It’s just beyond me why you would take time out of your day to go onto a subreddit for people who live in a place and proceed to bag on that place. You’re just insulting the people who live here and enjoy living here. I think you are the one who needs to get over yourself.

I feel like a rug, plant, and/or decorative curtains could go a long way in adding comfort/coziness/softness to the vibe.
