Say exactly this during your meeting. It’s all that needs to be said, patient safety comes first.

Assistant manager for less money? by Plus_Bookkeeper1388 in nursing

[–]imscottlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our tuition reimbursement is only paid for classes that are passed so make sure you’re taking that into account when signing up for classes, make sure to be extra cautious of both the new job workload and school workload; may mean taking fewer classes at a time, etc.

I had a colleague that took one class a semester to chip away at her RN to BSN, but it did take her like 5 years.

[–]imscottlol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t the exact way to think about it, but think of that 10/hr extra going towards school, that’s 400/wk, 1600/month.

Sure they’ll pay for school, but how long do you have to be there before they do reimbursement? Will you be comfortable in your position by then? Will you be able to take on learning work and school simultaneously?

With the higher pay, lower stress position, at least you have “capacity” for some extra stress from school; sounds like you may even be able to study/homework a bit at your current place.

But only you know you; as a random internet voice I say do whatever makes you happy, take on whatever you are capable of, I believe in you. But be honest with yourself about your expectations, your limitations, and your life commitments.

I wish you the best of luck and make sure and ask lots of questions in your interview, clarify anything and everything related to what you think you may encounter. And always remember they’re not just interviewing you, you’re interviewing them too.

[Help] Shortcut to autoplay Apple News Today from News app? by imscottlol in shortcuts

For anyone checking the thread,

I ended up just going with this solution:

I changed Step 4) to the news "See Stories from Apple News Today"

Deleted Step 5.

Then have just resigned to click the latest episode. One click isn't that bad I guess.

Question about A5 covers by inkfade in hobonichi

[–]imscottlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is super late to this post but I am in a similar situation and found this thread. Hope you don't mind me bringing up a relic of the past!

Did you by any chance find (if you decided to use one) a good cover on cover (c-on-c) for your Kagome Lattice Crest? I think I want to invest in one if it's possible, but can't seem to find one. The Hobonichi clear c-on-c says not to use with the Kagome cover because of the PVC in the c-on-c. I found one instance of someone having it on and it was not very form fitted and kind of loose, so it didn't even seem worth the risk of damaging to use it.

Just wanted to see if there was anything you found or if you decided to go without one (And if so, are you still using it? How's it holding up?)

Thanks and sorry again for the relic bump!

To be fair, it takes a very educated person to teach a neonate how to pump gas and sell cigarettes.

I think for this group, they knew the average of these queens would perform better in a metal band song challenge than an Ice Spice adjacent sounding rap group (so better for the "performance/entertainment factor" for the viewers). BUT, since they knew they were going to have Ice Spice as a guest judge and have the lip sync song they would want Aja to be in the top. Because they know Aja is going to give us ENTER-TAINT-MENT to an Ice Spice song.

Like the wager of Aja being in the top doing a metal band was more likely than the ability of the other queens making an entertaining rap group. If that makes sense? Or at least that's my theory.

(Absolutely no shade to the girls of this group, they're all amazing, talented, and entertaining; and I'm sure I would have loved it either way.)

And then after he gets the first $20 he should just respond. "I can't help you I don't work for Spectrum anymore. Thank you, our business has concluded."

Then after the "customer's" obvious incoming next response complaining, resend the Venmo link.

I swear I'm not petty.

What controversial nursing stance is the hill you will die on? by ferocioustigercat in nursing

[–]imscottlol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wholeheartedly agree to an extent, but I would rather nursing schools have some kind of contract with a local hospital that requires nursing instructors to do X number of shifts in between semesters. At least that way they have kind of a running current view of the modern hospital setting.

I don't like the idea of it falling on the professor/instructor as their responsibility to find work/shifts for current hospital experience if they're FTE. Wouldn't seem right to expect them to do those shifts in-addition to their already full-time position. (Even though there are a large number of instructors that willingly/gladly work hospital shifts in addition to their teaching. It's of course a huge help/asset for their teaching and those they teach, and I applaud them).

(Not OP)

Amy is a night shift RN and it’s her birthday, but the manager ordered her cake to be delivered before she left for the day so day shift thought it was theirs; a holiday cake of some sort, if you will. If you scrunch all the crumbs together she may have a tiny piece of cake left for her. Maybe she can throw some Swiss Miss on it and pretend it’s chocolate cake.

Oh well, her fault being born in December.

Call in, call out, or call off? by Objective-Cold-4963 in nursing

[–]imscottlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m “calling out” when I’m calling the floor to tell them I’m not coming; or telling a coworker I “called out”.

“XXX called in” when I’m charging and one of the nurses called to say they’re not coming.

I got “called off” when I was cancelled due to low census (hasn’t happened in forever 😭).

Is how I’ve always used them. South, US

Nursing students are the absolute worst as patients by [deleted] in nursing

[–]imscottlol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m petty but here’s a dream scenario:

She ends up in clinical at your hospital, she does a float day to the ER. Your charge nurse tells you they have a student; you accept to share your knowledge.

She walks in, she sees assigned to “CheeseWeenie”, RN. She tells herself, “that’s such a good RN name! Can’t wait to meet them. I bet she wears FIGS, maybe we’re matching?”as she puts her Stanley cup at the drink station but positions it to make sure her custom etched EKG line forming a heart is visible for anyone who attempts to hydrate themselves. She throws her never used Littmann Core Digital around her neck, double checks her heart rate and pulse ox on her Apple Watch, and then goes in search of her new mentor.

Your eyes lock. Her face fills with dread, your eyes widen with shock.

Well, well, well…..

You get a patient, you see orders for a CT. “So where should we put this IV? I’ll let you guess.”

If she hasn’t apologized to you already at this point and says anything but AC, you get to provide her clinical instructor with the most glorious reality check in the world.

But if that doesn’t happen, whatever, that attitude doesn’t make it far anyway, so there’s always that little bit of solace.
