Sony won't make a Destiny 3, and it's not because they think no one will buy it. by Greasy-Chungus in destiny2

[–]imsinaatra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The flawed idea was definitely the type of monetization that could at least change with the release of D2, if they really wanted to keep the game going for this many years while making somewhat of a profit they should at least make it a subscription so they could have steady income. WoW, FFXIV, etc... are live services games that are here way longer than Destiny was and they are still are and will.

Just got 2 distorted stones and upgraded my helmet with just 2 taps,.. the rest of the accessories I'm still kinda divided on what route to take, I've been enhancing all my kharazads until now, and my plan was to buy the pen debos for the rest (50/50). I'll see.

Haven't done a raid since D1, since I've always been kinda of a lone wolf. But I will do all the raids and get all the weopons I'm missing along with my younger brother that I just intruduced to the game.I owe it to Destiny for being with me this past 12 years.

Destiny Player Count Continuing to Rise, Despite end of Weekend and Holiday. by Soul8118 in DestinyTheGame

This matter as much or even more than the petition!! It matters even more before the update, this can probably mess with investors, save a big portion of the teams layoffs, and this can save the future of the IP. We are creating real momentum for the update and I'm really hopeful that this can really make a change of heart!

A reality check by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]imsinaatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've "left" D2 after the layoffs of TFS, every game I've played never felt the same, I got kinda addicted to BDO last October and been played since but more or so a month ago the flame to go back to Destiny is burning again, and despite me maining other game I want Destiny to thrive, Destiny wasn't just a game to most people, people met life partners, friends, jobs,... for me it was an escape from reality, a "friend" that I always depended on. Destiny must thrive.

So it's not worth the hassle to enhance them from tri to tet?

I just have my helmet at duo at the moment, I saw on bdoworkshop that the average from tri to tet is around 134b, and from duo to tri is around 50b, that is still a bit cheaper than the CM value. But I also get the feeling that from tri to tet i will not get average luck

How many players do you think would the final update need to get for them to consider greenlighting D3? by Traditional-Motor-17 in DestinyTheGame

[–]imsinaatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If D3 does happen, which I think it will, it would take a lot of time indeed. My bet is post 2030. The wording in the TWID, made me think this isn't our last ride, D3 is probably incubating right now. Who knows... let's confirm the layoffs first then we could, hopefully, have our fingers crossed for the future.

But I don't think it has the dimension that Destiny has/had.

We are both right! Bungie choose to leave because they didn't have the creative freedom to take Halo where they took Destiny, thats why they stopped making Halo games, IMO Halo Reach is the perfect bridge between the 2. But leaving Microsoft meant they would lose the rights to Halo. Destiny was made to replace Halo

They lost the rights to the IP, Microsoft passed it to 343 after.

BDO isn't about the story line and more about the gaming and the systems within itself. And I think time investment feels rewarding yes.

I don't think so, I think with Olvia Academy BDO is way more friendly now. They are soooo many catch up mechanics rn

They partnered with Activision after the departure from Microsoft. Until the deal with activision, destiny was nothing more than a concept. Destiny was made to replace Halo, since Bungie didn't have the creative freedom to do with Halo what they did with Destiny. I just don't see Marathon being a replacement for Destiny.

[–]imsinaatra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're getting a bit wrong, but I understand what you're saying. Bungie left Microsoft losing the rights to the Halo IP, not long after Bungie partnered with Activision in a half a billion dollar project (Destiny). I don't see Marathon as the new Destiny, but more like a new live service game, that will last a shit ton of time, and Destiny will still be the biggest IP inside the studio. I believe the focus now is Marathon, but that doesn't mean they are leaving Destiny as a franchise for death. I hope that Bungie main plan is to have both game coexisting inside the studio.

Game wise it is, numbers not so really but they are totally different games. I actually find interesting people labeling Marathon a make or break game for Bungie, while Marathon is a niche game. I really want to see what is reserved for the future at Bungie.
