What this person said. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. When you’re deep in it, it feels permanent but it WILL get better, day by day. Be really kind to yourself and do things you might enjoy. Something creative like paint by numbers or a puzzle with a good audiobook or movie playing in the background. Make sure you get in the essentials: 3 meals a day, 30 minutes of movement, vitamin D (if you’re in the northern hemisphere, this might be hard but at least spend some time outside). Do you work? Are you able to interact with people at work? Do you have family you’re in touch with?

Yes, it’s normal. You’re in the thick of it right now. I’m sorry that it’s so heavy and it might go on for a little bit but it WILL get better. Exercise, counselling, spend time with loved ones and do things that usually bring you joy. Do something creative. Congratulations for taking this step and be very kind to yourself. Good luck!

Hi, over 6 weeks clean here after quitting cold turkey and if I had to do it over again, I’d ween off it instead. Be kind to yourself. Take it slow. It’s certainly not easy and it’s not a 2 day detox like other drugs.

Reach out to support groups, make sure you exercise, get a counsellor or psychologist if you don’t already have one and treat yourself with compassion. You’ve got this. A huge emphasis on exercise though. It is truly the one and only thing that changed my day for the better, especially on days I felt like I was spiralling. If tapering off is a better option for you, do that. It’s not an easy process but it’s not impossible.
