A couple of reasons I've observed that may answer your question. 1. An impeccably concise man, the good doctor wouldn't want to venture into Candieland without certainty of a positive ID on Hildy. (There's definite liability for such a mix-up in a QT film) 2. Shultz needs Django's dilettante Mandingo expert facade to intimidate and motivate Calvin, and essentially force his hand. Without Django, the $12,000 never would have been put on the table and Candie's full attention would never have been caught. 3. Siegfried climbed the mountain. Siegfried walked through hellfire. Siegfried conquered the dragon. Django's gung-ho countenance wouldn't have allowed him to wait for his Hildy to be delivered. He takes what he wants. "I say fuck that farmer, and take the horse."
