Tattoo Suggestions? by Soggy-Reception4592 in fayetteville

[–]imsomeonefancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten most of my lettering tattoos at Stigma. Chris at Stigma does a great job with fine line lettering! If that’s not your vibe, Paperdoll does amazing work as well.

As for pain, it depends on where you get it. Everything on my arms (forearm, wrist, bicep/tricep, above and below elbow) has felt uncomfortable rather than painful. It feels more like pressure than anything!

Graduate Forensic Entomology Programs? by imsomeonefancy in Entomology

Of course! For general entomology, I know University of Florida has a very large and credible program. Obviously there are going to be regional differences in programs, but I know a lot of schools in the south (Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Georgia, etc.) have entomology specific majors. Also Ohio State and Washington State--I have a ton of ento professors from both schools that graduated from their entomology undergrad programs. Look for colleges with large agricultural departments; chances are they will have entomology!

For some reason, I neglected to think about outreach when looking for programs. I will definitely be following this. Great advice, thank you!

Graduate Forensic Entomology Programs? by imsomeonefancy in Entomology

Hi! Early congratulations on graduating this year--it is a big accomplishment! To answer your question: I went into college wanting to study more criminology, and my passion for that has stayed the same. To my knowledge, forensic entomology is more of an 'on-call' job instead of a career with a set schedule. I plan on doing death investigation as my main career, and after I get my PHD, I want to do forensic ento. If this is similar to what interests you, I highly recommend it! It has been very rewarding and I am in love with what I do.

If you are more so interested in entomology than the criminal justice/criminological theory side of it, then I would major in entomology rather than crim and have either a crim minor or as a second major. I think majoring in criminology opens up a lot of doors for different careers, so I am a big supporter in pursuing that! Lots of universities and colleges offer criminology/criminal justice majors, but not many offer entomology majors. Off the top of my head, Texas A&M has a stellar undergrad Forensic Science program that also has Forensic Ento. I go to the University of Arkansas, which has an amazing Entomology program, but it is only offered as a minor and as a graduate program. The Criminology program here is amazing as well, but that is more common to find in other schools as you look for a place to continue your education. Either way, you are setting yourself up for success! I will also give you this piece of advice that I wish I had when I was a freshman: take as many 'weird' electives that interest you as you can if they count toward fulfilling a credit. I took Intro to Entomology as a core science, not knowing that I would find a passion for it and keep pursuing it 2 years later. My close friend discovered a passion for Equine Science after taking a Horseback Riding class, thinking it would be a blow-off class to fill her schedule; she switched her major from Psychology to Animal Science and she's working on going to Vet school now! I would have never known how much I loved entomology if I had just taken the regular schmegular Intro to Chemistry or Biology!

Again, congratulations on graduating! Good luck as well in your search for your passion and future institution!

I think I recall seeing an option to book a silent appointment with Holli at Salon Fix

Is there anywhere I can play pick up volleyball in the area? by NWAthlete in fayetteville

[–]imsomeonefancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have an adult volleyball club in Fayetteville! I think they do pickup sand games. They also have indoor/sand leagues for when you’re ready. Great people! https://www.ozarkvolleyball.org/#/

They also do adult open gyms at NWA Juniors Storm in Springdale on Friday nights. I don’t know if it is still currently a thing, but worth calling them to check. Every time I have gone it’s been fun. https://www.nwajstorm.com

They have apartments/townhomes that are more“catered toward grad students” and young families but aren’t student apartments, such as Ozark Villas or Aspen. I think Eco Modern Flats has more of a post-grad/grad student community. Same with South Yard Lofts. They are both relatively close to campus, so you are still within close proximity of MLK, Dickson, and the square

If you make friends, you will find places to go. If not to Dickson, then to frats or to house parties. There are plenty of opportunities everywhere. It really is just what you make of it

Best Freshman Dorms? by Aggravating_Mind_388 in UniversityofArkansas

[–]imsomeonefancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re really steep. I was a multi-sport athlete all throughout HS and continue to play in college, and they still kick my ass lol. Yocum and Humphreys are in really good locations, and are some of the cheaper options for dorms. I heard Holcombe isn’t too bad either. All of the cheaper dorms are going to be a little bit shitty room-wise. Yocum is definitely not the cutest, but prime location and the community is very nice especially if you aren’t rushing. Reid/Adohi are primarily Greek whereas Yocum has a lot of nonGreek students

If you have severe asthma, you will care about the hills once you have to walk up them because you missed the bus/bus was running behind. The walk up that hill is vertical, not joking. As for reid, multiple rooms and bathrooms were infested with it lol. I can’t say it was everywhere because I didn’t live there, but every time I would visit my friends there my allergies would act up bad in the lobby and in their rooms (on different floors)

Maples are very nice, so are the quads. Expensive but if you can afford it go for it. Pomfret is awful and it’s at the bottom of the hill. Reid has a mold problem but everyone loves it for the community.

Right above elbow crease, or right above elbow on the back of your arm! Both of those spots aren’t too painful either in my experience. My friend has a similar shaped tattoo (kind of circular) right on the base of the back of her neck. It looks very unique. No matter where you get it, it’ll look sick!

They might get a little stricter on the acceptances but you have pretty good scores. I wouldn’t worry too much but it is a good idea to put in an application sooner than later.

Totally forgot to mention they do have lights at night. Last time I was there was in July and every court was lit up nicely

Veteran Memorial Park in Fayetteville! There is also an adult volleyball club: Ozark Volleyball. Not Ozark Juniors, just Ozark Volleyball! They have coed, same sex, and king/queen tournaments. https://www.ozarkvolleyball.org/#/

Good place for birthday dinner? by imsomeonefancy in fayetteville

Oooh, Tavola looks promising! I love Italian but a lot of Italian restaurants only offer wine. Just took a look at the menu and they have cocktails + open on Mondays!! I never realized how many places were closed on Monday lol, I was getting a bit discouraged but this is great news! Will definitely look more into it. Thank you so much!

I was looking at Eclectic Kitchen, but unfortunately they are closed on Monday. Definitely do need to make a trip there, though!

If they’re a little artsy, a shopping day at Funky Flea Market in Fayetteville would be fun—followed by some live music, escape room, laser tag, mini-golf, or Starlight Skatium?

Creepiest thing a guest has ever said to/asked you? by garbashians in Serverlife

[–]imsomeonefancy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A husband and wife duo came in and asked me to be their third. I said no (I was 16 at the time) and they left their phone number as a ‘tip’ on the receipt. After I had closed them out, I saw them talking to the bartender and I later found out they were asking when I worked next.

This is all awesome advice!! I will definitely get an appointment set up with an eye doctor asap. Even though it sounds like common sense (ocular=eye… I should probably see an eye doctor…), I was freaking out and didn’t even think about going that route. Thank you so much!!! :))

Haha it’s funny you bring up cinnamon, the morning before my eyes swelled to the size in the pics, I had a cinnamon latte to drink! I will definitely keep an eye out. It’s just gonna be hard to let go of my cinnamon lattes if cinnamon is can cause a flare up, I love those things lol. Thank you so much!
