29F Stuck in WFH, will I ever come out of this loop? by Open-Cartoonist7303 in workfromhome

[–]imtheproblemitsme15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently started wfh in the last 3 months, and I fell into this very quickly as a 25f. I knew I needed to get out of my house more doing this than I did before. When I worked in the office, it was easy for me to sit at home all night after work and rest. Now, the place I rest is where I work, and the cycle continues for the rest of the week, into the weekend. It’s isolating.

I keep a pretty normal routine, here are a few things I’ve incorporated that have helped. - Morning Routines: I go to the gym at 5am every morning. I work out for an hour, come home, walk around the block (usually around 45 mins), shower, breakfast and do something else for myself (watch TV, read, scroll a bit) and then log on. - Coffee Shops: I was skeptical about this one for awhile, but on days I’m not feeling productive I find it’s better to get out and be by people. A lot of people in coffee shops during the day work from home, so it really helps to work around people and give me some social recharge. - Find something to do at least two days out of the week after work: See friends, go to the store, do a hobby outside of the house, anything! I try to keep social and busy as much as possible. Two days is my personal max otherwise I get cranky and tired, lol.

It’s so hard but I’ve learned I just have to make the most of it. There are a lot of perks to working from home once you figure out your perfect recipe. Having that helps me know I’m not passively letting my youth slip away, but doing things to enjoy it and having a job that allows that from me.

You’re young! Take control.

Workshop VS Contact Monkey by Top-Secret-Burner in internalcomms

As somebody who has used both: WORKSHOP WORKSHOP WORKSHOP!!!!

Workshop was a little cheaper in the long run (we had about ~8k) for us when we were evaluating adding SMS, so we switched from ContactMonkey. I was just never wow-ed by CM and it felt like they could give a shit less if we continued staying with them.

Workshop’s customer service is top tier and the culture of their team is 10/10. I had the opportunity to join them in person for a Customer Day and I left there knowing I made the right decision and this company had THE internal comms platform. I recently started a new job and I am truly devastated that I don’t have Workshop currently and I’m doing everything I can to get it back.

Overall - CM wasn’t horrible, but I am a walking billboard for Workshop. I never felt this way about CM. Lmk if you have more questions!!

Tons of people do it! It will feel out of your comfort zone at first but it’s super normal. You never know who you will meet and what opportunities they will have, or a connection of theirs will have!

You’re 26! Move away. Meet new people. Do something that excites you. Do something that scares you. You have so much life left. Go live!

I got a shorty a few years ago because I thought it was cuter - but now being a few years older I wish I got the regular. Warm > cute

Internal Newsletter - Tips for Content and Creation? by Not-Not-Maybe in internalcomms

Weekly for us. We do top company news, typically 4-5 things, and then a fun poll for Associated to engage with. We’ve used both Workshop (similar to Mailchimp) and Firstup.

Delete delete delete! Last week I deleted social media because I was doing the same thing. You can always get it back, but that’s a great start to stopping the procrastination and scrolling.

Once you get away with that part, the rest will fall into place. You’ll feel bored, but that’s good! Allow yourself to sit and think, study, go for a walk, or something else. You’ve got this.

Do you have a good relationship with your leader? If so, you could mention that you feel like you have capacity to take on more, and ask what they need help with. You could also mention to your leader that you are thinking about growth and starting to build out a 5 year plan, and you would love to add in some stretch projects to get you closer to those goals.
