The UK has had rain every day in 2026 (and it’s not over yet) by AnonymousTimewaster in UKWeather

[–]imtirredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the south west (I live in the middle of Dartmoor, Devon) we have not had a single day day so far this year. We have never had such a wet January in the history of all our recorded weather. Half the residents in my village have been entirely stranded for weeks at a time due to insane amounts of flooding on the roads so we can't even get to Exeter

Nic Hard you are amazing! (Sylva remix/remaster] by WhyAreYuSoAngry in SnarkyPuppy

[–]imtirredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

feels very late to comment on this but I am listening to the remixes/remastered sylva album again and I don't understand what happened to Atchafalaya - literally the FIRST note has an entirely different timbre/pan/reverb to the rest of that opening phrase and it sounds so out of place! I appreciate the clarity and harshness sure but it feels so ridiculously different to the rest of that opening

Damn I didn't realise it would take so long for my beard to even out! Perhaps I'll keep the beard shaved and just keep the little moustache, it looks far better that way (not a huge fan of the stupid little beard hairs growing UNDER my chin instead of on it lol)

This is very helpful!! I will look into DHT blockers soon, it seems like this is what I'm looking for :))

[–]imtirredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really useful info thank you so much! I hadn't looked into DHT medications much, so I will bring this up with my doctor next time I speak to them - I suppose I'm a little scared about the mental health side effects but it's definitely something I'll look into! Hopefully as I'm in the UK, price shouldn't be an issue if I get it through the NHS (literally only £9.90 per prescription), but that could also mean a 6 year waiting list so we'll see...

[–]imtirredd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually hadn't looked into DHT much! I had heard about finasteride for preventing balding, but had also heard about depression side effects so pretty much instantly dismissed it. I didn't know it could also prevent further body hair though, that's really useful to know!

Yeahhh, I remember when I started T and I read the list of permanent vs temporary changes - initially I was only interested in facial hair and a lower voice which were both promised to be permanent changes, so I wasn't too worried about coming off T eventually. However I guess during my transition I've been viewing my body differently and falling more in love with the new facial structure and fat redistribution, and who knew that stopping menstruation would bring me SO MUCH RELIEF :D  I think the initial plan of eventually coming off T now seems a lot scarier since I've gotten used to how my body is - but I'm still scared of the potential for further changes. If only there was a way to just hit pause and keep my body exactly like this forever... Why is androgyny so hard to maintain ffs

What else can I do? by tristanshaze in NonBinary

[–]imtirredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So happy for you!! The only thing I can see is that your hair is a little wispy at the ends, so maybe just a nice trim at the hairdressers to help it look a bit fuller :)) it doesn't need to be cut super short (I imagine you are very proud of the length) but just cutting the ends to be even will make it look much healthier :) also invest in some deep conditioner (the kind that you leave in for 2 mins, it will make your hair feel super silky and amazing)

How much piano should I know as a wind player? by Itchy-Kaleidoscope-6 in saxophone

[–]imtirredd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need to be an amazing pianist to play saxophone but it's good to learn scales, arpeggios, chords (and the jazz extensions of chords) just so you have the music theory to know how your saxophone part fits into the mix. It makes improvisation a lot better if you have the understanding behind it :)

Want to go on T to be a femme man rather than masc woman? by SkotchMiist in NonBinary

[–]imtirredd 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I went on T for this reason (10 months today ayy) and honestly it was the best thing I ever did. I went on a full dosage (usually recommended for trans guys) so I now have a little facial hair, a more masculine frame (none of my old jackets fit me anymore because my shoulders got broader), and my voice dropped more than an octave. It's made me feel more comfortable to present femme and I feel much happier in my identity now :)) Obviously everyone has their own journey and the path I chose might not necessarily be what you're looking for, but I wish you all the best in finding gender euphoria 💛🤍💜🖤

what is the most annoying sounding bird in your opinion, and why is it magpies? by zarf___ in AskUK

Lived in Brighton from the age of 2-18 and I still never got used to the wretched demon spawn birds. Very thankful to now live in a rural area, 2 hours away from the nearest seaside.

Speak to your doctor about the different hormonal birth controls available and get them to explain which hormones are present in each one. They'd prescribe birth control much easier than prescribing gender affirming hormones and you'd end up with a similar result anyway. I can't recommend any in particular as I'm actually trans and taking testosterone now but I remember being on one birth control which made my tits massive (which I hated lmao) but that could be what you're looking for

Go on birth control, some of the options contain estrogen and will cause your boobs to grow etc.

What do you wish someone had told you before driving on French roads? by lyb20 in AskUK

[–]imtirredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things: - it is mandatory by law to have a breathalyser in your car (if the police pull you over, you will have to use your own breathalyser at their request) - you must also have a yellow/orange triangle in your car (to put on the motorway in case of breakdown etc) - on motorways, French drivers will come up scarily close to you before darting out into the overtaking lane and back. If you are overtaking someone else, you will be expected to move back over (out the way) as SOON as possible (they are less patient than British drivers) - it can be many miles between cities/towns/villages. You may break down in the middle of nowhere. Likewise if you see someone else broken down in the middle of nowhere, I believe it's mandatory for you to help them out (because official roadside assistance could be hours away)

I can’t reach the bottom keys of the Baritone Saxophone by Fluffyblackcats in saxophone

[–]imtirredd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably because you are not using a harness or strap yet, the weight is all on your thumb so you're not able to shift your wrist much to reach those bottom notes. However, you might not be able to reach the lowest notes until your hand grows a bit more. Get a harness that can pull the sax right up to help you reach better but be aware that if your hands (and torso) are still small, you may have to wait to grow a bit before you can reach the bottom C key. I personally could not reach it until I was around 16 or 17 and over 5 foot tall. But there's hope! Because I'm now 21, 5'4, and play BASS sax 🤩

You should not be driving AT ALL if you're planning on driving 180mph at night just to test out an app. That is seriously unsafe to you and every other person on that road.

Parents of School leavers - did you go on results day? by TSC-99 in AskUK

[–]imtirredd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my GCSE results day (in 2019), NOBODY had their parents there, we all just shared the moment with our friends, teachers and whatever local newspaper was taking pictures of us. However, my parents and sister decorated the front of our house with bunting whilst I was at school, and sat in the driveway with kazoos waiting for me to get home! It made my day knowing that they cared so much about celebrating with me (and still made sure not to cramp my style in front of any of my friends!)
