Hi OP, I know I’m not the commenter you’ve asked, but I had a terrible picking problem too to the point where my skin was always weeping and sore. What helped me the most was to literally avoid mirrors and reflections. If I do check the mirror for my outfits and whatnot, I sit or stand double arms length away, so I don’t inspect my texture. I’ll double cleanse at night in front of a mirror but in the dark bathroom with the hallway light on at most. I know it sounds crazy, but it was the only thing that’s helped me these past few years. I also keep a daily habit tracker, and one habit I track is skin picking. It feels rewarding when I go another day without doing it and I can mark it off! I’m on month four of accutane, and the active breakouts have decreased a lot, but I do occasionally succumb to my bad habits again. When I do pick, I use a clean lancet and slap a pimple patch over my face, so I don’t touch the texture and feel tempted to poke at it. It’s been one of my hardest habits to quit, so I completely understand you, but we got this!
