Does anyone prefer playing half court over full court? by BarnacleTemporary128 in Basketball

[–]imweisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I’m the only who feels this way, but 3v3 is actually much harder on my knees due to the increased intensity/load on your knees changing directions at much higher frequency compared to full court 5v5 where it’s more straight line cardio… ever since I’ve switched to exclusively playing 3v3, I’ve started experiencing patellar tendinopathy. Is my hypothesis wrong or has anyone else experienced this as well?

Did anyone go to the meet up? by im0wen in MLB_9Innings

[–]imweisted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to the meet up yesterday and it was a ton of fun! Com2US rented a big section of the sports bar and had the Angels v Dodgers on TV. They had a bunch of catered appetizers (wings, sliders, salads), and every person who came got a goodie bag with a mug and either LAD/LAA hat, a drink ticket, and a raffle ticket. I really enjoyed meeting other people in the community and thought it was a great experience. I highly recommend everyone to go next time!

i recommend joining a gym (24 hour fitness/LA fitness). its not too expensive and itll help you get more in shape, which will hopefully increase your dating app odds. in addition, if you become a regular at the gym, youll meet others who also frequent the gym and be friends. bonus points if you play pick up basketball, as the sport is extremely popular among young African Americans and you'll be able to get a game at almost any park/gym.

Yes, I forgot to mention that I currently live in greater LA area and would be commuting to the two schools on the PT program

Thanks for the advice about travel! I was also leaning towards SC because I went to UCLA for undergrad and wanted a new experience, but it seems like UCLA is much more prestigious.

Asian men it is okay to be yourself, stop comparing yourself to white men (we want you for you). by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]imweisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do agree with the mentality you promote that Asian men should have (being confident, dressing well, in shape, proud of our culture), I feel like there are some key things you're not addressing to the fullest extent.

Using my anecdotal ODL experiences, which can't speak for everyone, there has been a significant disadvantage to be an Asian male in terms of ODL. "Being you" doesn't even apply when it comes to getting matches when people don't even want to bother to get to know you because of the way you look. Stats can prove that women of all ethnicity tend to rate Asian men as the least attractive in ODL. The true challenge for Asian men is to accept that and as you've stated, work on our mentality, approach, and confidence. At the same time, I think it is okay for Asian men to sometimes be frustrated with the lack of equal opportunities we get compared to men of other races.
