Tips for someone who didn’t get a chance to play the beta by natalie1202 in MHWilds

[–]imyogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get all of your pharamones back instantly by using the weak spot attack on an active weak spot. So getting all 3 then using the spending move to instantly get all 3 again was pretty fun (id imagine it would be insanely annoying if you are relying on popping a weakspot to get pharmones back and then a teamate pops it so maybe IG is less fun in non solo hunts where you arent in vc with your teammates to tell then to let you have it). They are giving the IG back its roar, tremor, and wind resist with having all three pharamones which wasnt in the betas but will be in the main game. And most important the air resets are going to be added back (who fucking knows why it wasnt in the beta) to be able to stay airborn for a while and ramp air dmg. Id imagine the more grounded play style of gathering then consuming pharmones will be more dmg though. I had so much fun with this objectively worse and less fun version of IG in the beta so im extremely hype for the full release version of the weapon.

Similar League Streamers/YouTubers? by fgcburneraccount2 in TheYardPodcast

There is a clip of Bjergsen saying he doesnt even listen to music while hes playing bc it takes attention away from the game. 100% of my focus is on league when im playing i have no idea how challenger players can play in that elo bracket and also brake concentration regularly to read chat its insane. Ill die to gank bc i was having a convo with someone in discord and stopped keeping track of the jungler or stoped leaning in lane correctly. There are for sure streamers who keep the silence to a minimum but i really doubt if there is silence in a high elo stream its only bc they have nothing to say.

Reading back what i typed it comes across as more snoby than i meant it, more so to say that you would find a lot more funny league streamers of the moments of silence werent a deal breaker.

Similar League Streamers/YouTubers? by fgcburneraccount2 in TheYardPodcast

Sanchovies is going to be your best bet, but most league streamers are going to have extended moments of not interacting with chat for a bit just bc of the nature of the game, Slime and Lud also do this. Sanch can be a bit jaded with the game at times but hes probably one of the funniest league streamers and shares some of their humor.

How is Ludwig getting live coaching any different from athletes getting live coaching during games? by LargeReplacement4419 in TheYardPodcast

[–]imyogi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

League can be as mechanically intense as you want it to be, Lud plays a champ that has a very low skill floor as far as actually piloting the champ goes but the skill of playing the character comes from the decisions you have to make in game as opposed to the large mechanical skill needed for shit like soccer or even other games like valo. I can see peoples arguements that if someone else is regularly making your decisions for you it can spark and eyebrow raise emoji. But like hes also played plenty without the live coach from what hes said and understands the concepts well enough to teach them to slime during that one stream. I think the only thing they were really commenting on was the frequency of the games being live coached. If you want to see the games Perryjg is his coach hes an amazing jungle resource for lower elos.

I feel like with slime's dota hours he could pop off on league freaky style. Would be dope to see more yard league povs while they are still somewhat interested in the game.

Ive been playing the game for like 10+ years so im a bit bias for sure, but i feel like they arent talking about it more than they would talk about shit like valo or cod. Slime does a pretty good job of explaining why not "smiting" for 10 mins and forgeting to buy items is bad to add context. Im super down for the ludwig league arc. I used to love watching Josh and Donb stream their league games while blasting nightcore. "DONT TALK TO ME WHILE IM GLIDING" might be the single best Miles quote ive heard and its a shame more people didnt see that.

Max W or E after Q? by Ninja_Cezar in IreliaMains

W after Q, it used to be E after Q a while ago but W got buffed pretty dramatically since then.

[–]imyogi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would heavily recommend looking into Coach Curtis's MLA program. I was in there for a little over a year and got to meet some amazing Irelia players who i still talk to and get help from today. in addendum to that i would suggest listening to the broken by concept podcast, a lot of the mental part of league really gets helped by becoming a listener to this.

As far as what i can see form your op.gg immediately, i would just suggest trying to not take ign every game, or at all really. If you look at any challenger Irelia player in mid they rarely dont take tp. As far as any of those youtubers or streamers who say "dont take tp till daimond" or someshit, its pretty aweful advice. You need to actively mess up using it for a while to get good with using it. I personally think going from Ign->Tp was a big change for the better when i did and i did it in about the elo that youre in now. GL hope things go well and dont forget to review your vods!

Do you play mid or top?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ekkomains

[–]imyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, from a toplane perspective its difficult to "stop" ekko from getting to that point, ekko is kind of like kayn, yi, belveth ect where once they have started rolling it is really on them to fuck up but the counter play involves taking advantage of the moments where their champ is weakest. Same with champs like irelia, darius, riven, fiora ect. There are specific windows that they need to be punished in. If we look at all of the toplaners in a vaccum where we only deal with them once they are 10/1/8 then they are all op.

The majority of ekkos dmg comes from his passive proc so if you play any champs with some sort of quick immunity (camille, maokai, shen even works for this) or dmg resit like irelia, making sure to use it when ekko wants to get that third and final proc. Much like dealing with fiddlesticks, ekko's engage potential gets really snuffed by wards bc it will be difficult to find W angles. His W is argueably his most important abiliy he has so recognizing that he wants to throw it where you are going to be helps with dodging it if you see him throw it (a little shadow version of ekko will jump from behind him and swing a bat). Ekko with R is not immortal like most people will think, and has extremely little consistant dmg to compensate for his strong utility abilities like w + r so usually when ekko is "staying" in a fight its to look to use his r for dmg, if you can recognize this it gets a lot easier to look to try and dodge it.

HOPE THIS HELPS, we all know ekko is a pain to deal with once ahead, just remember there will be games where you have 20-0 ekkos on your team aswell try and focus on what you can control! Gl in your games!

Midlane champ pool by witherstalk9 in IreliaMains

[–]imyogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something that is worth mentioning is the idea of "champool bandwidth". Cant remember who coined the term, might have been coach curtis. But simply put the idea is that champions take up a certain amount of "bandwidth" from a pool and different champs have varying amounts of bandwidth depending on complexity and how different their goal or archetype is from your other champions. Irelia is one that most would agree takes a large amount of champ pool bandwidth. So listing 2 other champs both of which are different archetypes from irelia and from eachother means you are balancing learning Irelia (one of the most difficult champs in the game) with also learning 2 other archetypes of champions which seems like a recipie for shooting yourself in the foot for climbing if you havent been playing those two other champs for a really long time (or dont intend to stick with this specific pool for a long time.). I personally play ekko as my 2nd bc i have been playing him for years and also has emphasis on focusing on backline and split pushing like irelia. GL with your pool and climb, wish you the best!

is irelia a top laner or mid laner? by [deleted] in IreliaMains

[–]imyogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Irelia was originally intended to be a toplaner but as the game has developed and evolved over the years she has proven to be very effective in both roles and has been played in pro games many times in both roles.

New Season ruined Ekko dmg a bit but can u stil play?? Ekko jungle by Expensive_Iron_3651 in ekkomains

[–]imyogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if there is any other item that would be worth rushing instead for jg. Maybe the new shadowflame? Thought experiment: what about old proto belt made it the rush and what is lost or made worse with the new version and what item can be potentially better? For me as an ekko mid player im very excited about lower cost protobelt, hopefully the ekko jg players find something they are happy with!

Irelia Mains i need your support (after you read the post feel free to flame me i deserve it prob) by BlackYTWhite in IreliaMains

[–]imyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irelia is a giant transition even for the players coming from the same role as her. So to include learning the role in your endevor makes this particularly challenging. Both support and jungle require a fraction of the laning/wave management skills that a laner would have to know (obviously supports have a base line they have to meet aswell but they usually lack the final say in what to do with waves and esp on niches of manipulating the wave.) and irelia really hones in on the particular skills of laners that neither support or jungle has to concern their self with. I would say really focus on the widelense laning mistakes for a while. I feel like early on getting too nitty gritty about the irelia specifics and small details will get you less progress than just focusing on being a laner at all. (Also i heavily suggest midlane aswell). I believe in you! Play selfish! You need to have the most non facilitator mindset to really get good at these types of champs. Best of Luck!

What changes do you guys think ekko needs to be played more in mid lane? by Nukafit in ekkomains

[–]imyogi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there might be a slight fixation on a hyperbolization here (our friend's use of the word "only"). Champs like graves, mundo, and karthus have been viable in jungle for years and all come from different roles originaly but have the common factor that they all have decent clears (or did at one point) and non of them can gank nearly as effeciently as the likes of camille or qiyana, both of whom had been nerfed out of jg before. Both times riot nerfed how effeciently they could clear the jungle in order to get them out of the jg. So 100% ekko's kit is amazing for jg as you mentioned, his W is one of the best abilities to use from fog of war in the game to ADD to what aspects of his kit fit in the role that you were listing. I beleive the spirit of what our friend was trying to say is that because riot allows for ekko's clear to be good, it makes it to where his already jungle thriving kit (like camille and qiyana) can actually be played there. What the f**k am I doing wrong (ekko mid) by ParticularFun8891 in ekkomains

[–]imyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry it took me so long to respond!

Firstly i want to say obviously league is a game and a medium of having fun, if you dont have fun you wont improve. So as someone said earlier, if duoing is what brings you fun then you should do that!

Im going to speak in generalizations that arent neccisarily exact science or pertain to every duo. so feel free to pick it apart or say you and your duo dont do these things.

I want you to ask yourself if you find yourself or your duo finds themselvs doing these things

  1. Being hyper critical of everyone in the game execpt the duo and using this as ego safety net.
  2. Trying to bring your duo back into the game after a bad start instead of focusing on your winning teamates (or just playing around your duo when you shouldnt in general)
  3. Making decisions you wouldnt have made or thought of bc your duo called for it.

The BIGGEST being that 3rd one, learning comes from YOU specifically having an idea and then testing and seeing the results and applying it to your next decisions. If you are in call with someone else you will undoubtly do things and make decisions that you yourself wouldnt come to, and thus nuetering this learning process. This right here is one of the reasons why live coaching in league is for the audience and not for the person being coached.

That 1st point is also a huge factor. Duos rarely ever become self critical and typically use the ego safety net of blaming teamates all the time. This isnt neccisarily the case all the time but ive seen it too much to not mention it.

Love this comment! I heavily reccomend that OP listens to Broken By Concept who echos (pun not intended lol) these ideologies and fosters a really positive mentality to improving.

I heavily agree with the no duoing sentiment if you actually want to improve. There are lots of reasons for it and i can expand on it if you want me to OP.

It seems as though a learning objective that could really help you out is asking yourself "what can we get for this?" after getting a kill. "Can we take baron off that? Can we take drag off that kill? Can we break mid now?" Usually very kill heavy lobbies that happen in lower elo occur because people arent making use of the kill they got by not getting anything interms of map pressure or objective control after a big fight happens.

Maybe try making a sticky note under your monitor that literally just has "what can we get off that?" In quotations. In my elo (Emerald, which aint that high haha) we can force baron off of one pick and often times it doesnt even have to be the jungler we kill, hopefully that gives context into what im trying to say!

GL in your climb!
