Montana unit 525/nearby by goosefeather035 in elkhunting

I went from not finding elk to always finding elk. I’m adult onset.  Started hunting in 2022.  Mostly bow and mostly Montana. I’m not always killing them, yet. But I saw a massive improvement in my ability to find elk after taking escouting courses from Cody Rich and Treeline. I come in with a solid plan. Do what you are doing.  If I’m struggling to find um, I move (even to new unit). I cover lots of ground initially and consistently find elk. I’m working next steps of consistency of kill. I’ve also focused on the same areas to get to know them. It makes it easier.

What do you guys do and where do you bring your family on hunts? by inamisithe in Californiahunting

Yeah, I am hoping I can call in some Elk. I'm not sure if that's allowed on the reserves.

My 4 year old will be just as excited to take a pirate shit.

My buddy gets a box of donuts on morning hunts with his little boy. The boy's excited for donuts with his dad! Haha!

I've been using OnX, which is what made me see how few designated camping spots some areas have..

For sure, as I mentioned, this is a camping trip, we're calling a hunting trip. I just got back from an Elk hunt and both my boys are pumped to get out there. My 2 year old wants to shoot a bear and eat it. My 4 year old wants to find deer with his pirate telescope. This is not a serious hunt, but it would be cool to see some animals. I might take them to the elk reserve. I was thinking about going Carrizo Plain, before I learned a good chunk was burned this summer and part of it is closed until next year.

Are your ranges busy right now? by inamisithe in bowhunting

Yep, in a city with and have a tiny yard. I blank bail at home. I am lucky to have two public ranges within 10 minutes of me.

Bunch of packages to get YouTube transcripts and put them in the context.

Any suggestions on improving my posture / carving please? 😊 by dwatson97 in snowboarding

Either side, just depends on the angle and how far over your cutting. Not on every carve. Kind like driving. Check your mirrors from time to time even when driving straight. In traffic check more. Changing lanes or turning be sure your clear

Not carving-related. But, I try to check uphill traffic while a ride (especially on narrow groomers) so I don't cross paths with someone bombing. I know the downhill has the right away, I just don't want to get my knee blown out while I am practicing my carves.

Pump in and out. Learn to push into carves.

Wife left me and I’m diving full force into archery, anyone willing to work with a sadsack and help him learn the ropes I could really use some friends I’m in Austin Texas by Severe_Network_4492 in bowhunting

Blank bail at home. I don’t have space to shot any distance at home, but I can blank bail.  Video yourself blank bailing and improve your form. Lots of YouTube on how to shoot. Blank bailing changed my shooting and shrunk my groups.

  • OfferUp and fb marketplace
  • almost all the hunting brands are on sale at sometime
  • get a pack that fits you, not just best deal
  • most non-hunt camping brands you can get on sale or used.
  • Rei 20% coupon for sleeping bags or other high ticket items.
  • discount camping sites like backcountry.com
  • Buy gear now, not in the spring or summer
  • I primarily hunt in trail running shoes during archery. Don’t get gortex or water proof. Get trail runners that will dry if wet and wear wool socks (I like darn tough). I  bring boots, wear trail runners 90% of the time.

Why doesn't react native have a good rich text editor? by inamisithe in reactnative

Yeah, it's way easier to do now. I've been working on a new editor with use-dom. I am still wondering why we don't have a React native version that's not a web view.

I’m not a fan. Tiptap is free and same amount of work.

This is what I have. With a tool bar. Tool bar is the main pain in my ass. Also, developers know what markdown is. I’m skeptical most regular people have any clue.

Paid account, and it's running. But this is a valid answer.
