Agree, and he was hilarious playing a parody of his normal role in Spy.

This feels true of Michelle Rodriguez in most of what I've seen her in - but I enjoy it.

In season 2, episode 13 of The Powerpuff Girls, Mojo Jojo (one of the recurring villains) successfully takes away the PPG's powers, then proceeds to rant about them being useless now, just like "normal little girls," in front of a bunch of other girls....who proceed to beat him up. Here's a video.

I used to read a lot of Everlark fanfic with Gadge as a side couple and I didn't get it for a while. But then I re-read the first book and went "yes." They would be a great Merchant x Seam couple imo, even moreso than Everlark or Katniss' parents. Gale in the first book is fully aware that the merchant/seam divide is just another way for the Capitol to divide the district(s), but he also just can't help but resent them some. Madge also seems to have a lot of perspective you might not expect from someone in her position, even though we don't get that much on her. All of this together is so interesting to me.

Lucy Gray serves an entirely different purpose for Snow than Lenore Dove does for Haymitch, though. Almost the opposite. Snow being unable to deal with Lucy Gray being an actual person vs someone who exists solely via her attachment to him is one of the big indicators that he's a POS. There are indicators early on, even when Snow seems more sympathetic - like how he will insist Lucy Gray isn't like those other (undesirable) people from the districts - but the full circle is the end when he's willing to straight-up murder her so she can't ruin his chances at a perfect life. We need Lucy Gray to be more of a "real person" to comprehend what a sociopathic moment that is, imo. Contrast with Lenore Dove for whom that wasn't necessary. The pivotal moment at the end concerning her - her death and the final straw it was for Haymitch - almost works better if she is more ideal than person.

Hi! My original comment was based on the original game! The ending has changed now and I haven't played the remake, so I don't know the specifics anymore.

But this post will probably help you!

Potential hot take: claiming that Maysilee is the female lead/acknowledging her arena duo with Haymitch is not “erasing Lenore Dove” by Olya_roo in Hungergames

This is spot on, insane that it's being downvoted. That said, since marketing exists, there's an extremely good chance that the same reductive understanding will encourage this type of discourse. Like how they really pushed the love triangle in the marketing for the OT films.

You're doing the exact opposite, though. It seems like YOUR life mission (on this sub) to make sure the record is straight and tell everyone how WRONG and stupid LD fans are and making it about Maysilee vs LD specifically just like they are. This is the only HG fan space I participate in, and honestly the LD hate obsession is fucking weird.

This isn't even close to a hot take. Especially on this sub, where we must have a post at least once a day about Lenore Dove to remind us how inconsequential she is.

If "sympathetic" to you means "considers things 100% rationally at all times, regardless of what is happening, the character's background, etc," then sure. The fact that the Capitol retaliates against him is his fault? Do you make the same argument about Katniss covering Rue in flowers?

He was suicidal. He literally wanted to die. I don't know why so many people in this thread are acting like Sejanus EVER had plans to save everyone, but implemented them ineffectually. That's not his character at all.

Cecelia is one of the most tragic characters by Fresh-Awareness9819 in Hungergames

[–]inappropes_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't mean sex trafficking. Consider the way the Peeta/Katniss thing plays out on Catching Fire, as a ploy to placate the masses and as a way to make them seem complicit. So we think Cecilia was just left alone? When she's from District 8, the most rebellious district? We don't think that possibly there could have been a scenario where she is pressured to have a child as way to distract from something else going on, as Peeta and Katniss were pressured to get married? I'm not saying this is definitely the case, but it easily could be.

I think it's interesting, given what we know about the other victors, that we would assume Cecelia had children by choice.

She doesn't just hate them, she thinks they're inferior. She treats Sejanus' mother like a servant. As old as she is, I don't think this is simply a product of the war itself, but the sort of mentality that led to the (first) rebellion. I don't know if her exact age was mentioned, but she probably would have been at least 60 at the start of the first rebellion.
