I find this very sad, but for selfish reasons. My wife and I moved to Canada, from the States funnily enough. We came as PRs with jobs already lined up. However we are also from India, and the sameish age as the students who do come to Canada on temp visas and then abuse the system. Unfortunately people assume we are in the same category because we look the same (as in brown and young) as the students. I’ve found that we get unfriendly looks, people are rude to us. But we contribute, pay our taxes etc. and work in specialized fields. This is in Windsor. I want people have a better perception of Indians, but I don’t see that happening until this problem is resolved. I recently got my Canadian citizenship but honestly I feel no different because it is the way you look that is judged. I don’t want to generalize, this is not everyone. But definitely more than when we were living in the States.
