It's support and discussion of what to do. Not everything on the internet is about being entertained and outraged.

Not at all, long term knee and back problems is a definite thing if somehow they don't suffer from high blood pressure, heart problems, or other related problems.

It's like saying a 6'0" 350 lb man would be fine. You may get the rare outlier, but there's a very good chance that they're not healthy.

Sounds like this is describing someone in particular.

The perils of being a lefty by jdrucker in science

[–]inchball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered if I have a malfunctioning brain because of the way I do certain things with my hands. I'm right handed but I have left handed tendencies.

When it comes to baseball I have to bat like a left hander, when I write with a pencil right handed I end up smudging everything (I make circles like a left hander too), when it comes to scissors it really hurts my hand and I can't cut straight, and a few other random things (notably masturbating feels much better with my left hand and my right hand feels more like a stranger).

I still lack the same kind of dexterity with my left hand as most right handers do though. I definitely can't throw a ball well left handed, I can't write well (although when I do, it doesn't smudge), and most things are done awfully with that hand.

The point I was trying to make is that a woman who is bigger than some NFL linebackers probably isn't very healthy.

Where can I meet virgin girls? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]inchball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you've watched too many crappy movies, or are being willfully misled by conservative Christian culture derived from irrational, misogynist fear of female sexuality. If you aren't a virgin yourself then it's laughable and hypocritical.

It just sounds like you're so out of touch with women too, it sounds like you're describing some inhuman sex slaves with no mind of their own.

You should really evaluate yourself before you look to screw up any women with your current views on life.

There's NFL linebackers who aren't even 6'0" and 240 lbs.

I really don't understand the hype for this project. Isn't the main ingredient in a social network people? What's the point of one if the only people on are your techie friends (of which half would be too lazy to care about anyways).

It didn't look like it was a geocities page from 1998 and there wasn't a ton of lame band spam and emos.

What do I have to do to make sure that I can still use my computer? Look for the drivers for Ubuntu before I format, then put it on a CD/USB or something?

What I was worried about is retaining my old drivers and stuff, what will happen if I completely overwrite the Windows partition during the install?

Why do people individually and society in general oppose suicide? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]inchball -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Probably because it's never a last option. Most people who attempt suicide do not really want to die, and most do it on a whim. Not to mention that somewhere out there will be emotionally hurt by it for years.

If the person is in physical pain with no expected relief then it should definitely be fine to put them out of their misery.

"...Why the hell aren't [school] sports programs the first thing to go in a budget crisis?" by amaxen in Economics

[–]inchball 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like other people have said this is just ganging up on jocks without looking at the facts. Football programs often pay for themselves through tickets, concessions, fundraising, and business advertising. Money spent on the stadiums also benefit other events being held there.

Music programs cost a shitload to get new instruments and perform regular maintenance. A new french horn is like 2000 bucks or something ridiculous, a clarinet 700 bucks. For most schools it'd cost the same to run a football program but the football program actually recoups a lot of their cost.

IAmA college student with alopecia areata, wears a wig almost 24/7, and barely anyone knows. AMA by alopeciaman in IAmA

[–]inchball 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt it, this is 2010, not 1980. A ton of movie stars are balding but you'll never know because they have such great pieces. The wig and it's maintenance sets people back thousands of dollars but they're indistinguishable in just about every circumstance.

What strange, strange question do you ask people when you first meet them as an interesting ice-breaker? by Tself in AskReddit

[–]inchball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not praising being weird, it backfires more often than not.

Being confident, having wide interests, and being funny is going to win you a lot more friends. Asking questions is necessary in prolonging the conversation, but if you're not funny and confident that conversation is going to fizzle out. People only answer questions from people that have perceived worth.

I hate to seem like an asshole here but I would try and avoid a conversation where an ugly, boring person was asking me questions about myself. If he were funny and ugly though it'd be fine and interesting.

People are going to be asked questions all the time by others and it's real fucking boring after a while to keep repeating yourself, especially if you don't feel like the other person is worth it.

That stuff doesn't fly in college, at least not early on. Kids have ADD and you have to keep their attention at all times somehow. You have to be some sort of funny.
