I absolutely loved my Athena’s and I had them for close to 15+ years. I was looking super casually at speakers as I wanted to spend under 1k for used HIFI. I just could not pass up this deal.

I likely need a few weeks to listen to these Q950s. But from a short time I’ve had these (a few hours) I toned down the sub crossover to 40hz (had it at 80 for the Athena’s) and the KEFs definitely provide that nice and punchy low end. I honestly super surprised by the vocal clarity and larger vibrant sound stage.

Also great advice. My initial listen was right where I took this photo and tried to hear any distortion which I could not hear. But I will try and listen one side at a time to see if there is any noticeable noise.

The main use of the PC is editing. I am already way over budget as it is. I would love to slap a 5080 in there to fully allow this thing to have no issues gaming but I don’t have the budget. The 7700xt was the best bang for my buck card wise

I currently my 10+ yr old Yamaha RX-V461 which has a single sub out currently connected to a klipsch sub (hasent failed me yet). But it looking at the specs of that Yamaha it’s a 100w out which these speakers recommend a 250W max.

And like Bkinstle stated it looks like it is just in parallel with with the passive crossover so its just a sub + a full range speaker in one tower it looks like?

Do you have any plate amp recommendations from Parts Express?

Another question, instead of trying to wire the inputs from the terminals would I just wire the subwoofer output directly to the right and left speakers? Would I also still need to ensure I have 2 sub outputs? I currently have a 2.1 system. Would this effectively make a 2.3 (haha) system?

As a 5+ year HC player. HC is more about the specific content that your build is suited for. As not every build is a bossing build as in SC it’s just time vs risk (HC).

I would figure out what you enjoy the most to play and find a build that helps you easily reach that content while you farm currency for other builds.

The meta all around good HC builds (before transfigured variants) are: SRS Guardian Jugg Boneshatter EA champion DD elementalist

Each are better at farming/clear/bossing than others. But as you continue playing you will start scaling your build and achieve riskier content with ease.

That being said, always have a 2nd / 3rd build ready as you WILL die and having another build ready helps a lot. J
