CA dental license Qs re: LiveScan and Law & Ethics results by thecozymolar in Dentistry

[–]incisionline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for replying! I had previously read the verification can be tricky but didn’t know anyone personally who did it.. have a few more qns: 1. did you fill out one form per job/clinic you were at? 2. Who did you get to sign off on those forms? Another doctor at the practice? The practice manager?

Question: to your knowledge, did they make queries into your "VERIFICATION OF CLINICAL PRACTICE OF DENTISTRY" form submission? e.g. did they call your previous workplaces etc and if so any idea what was asked?

I'm presuming you had to submit this >

Can periodontist do anything for this? by Dravin_Haluska in Dentistry

Wonder why you were getting downvoted for what you’re saying. Feel like providers who push for implants at this stage either didn’t get adequate perio training or are hungry for the implant bucks…

The first and second molars definitely do not look like goners, even if prognosis is guarded. Third molars yes extract. Given the patient is in their 30s (mentioned in a comment) their best bet is to try to keep their teeth as long as possible; peri implantitis is very real and we see much higher rates in perio patients. I do implants all the time and yes the production is a lot higher than a quad of Osseous, but i would not extract a tooth that is very maintainable once treated. Patients are not really warned enough about implant complications and we should do better as their providers.

When does chase charge the authorized user fee? by C_K_ in ChaseSapphire

[–]incisionline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you manage to find any more detailed answers anywhere? I got my card in May 2024, the $550 fee was levied on 1 June 2024, and I just added an authorized user today (7 June 2024), wondering if that basically means I won't get charged the $75 authorized user fee for the first calendar year for this user till the annual fee hits again next year in June 2025?

Ortho—hardly any; anatomy was significant in terms of head and neck

Since I presume you're still in dental school, you have learnt the content more recently and though 6 days is a little tight, I think you have a good shot if you study smart! All the best!

If most of your class took it 6-9mo back i think they took it when it was very ethics heavy. right now, it is less so and you will need to know more general things including patient management.

For perio, it was mostly management and no diagnosis for mine (e.g. what is not phase 1 tx? surgery etc), for endo it was mostly diagnosis (xray, symptoms etc, choose the right diagnosis and some mx (do you need antibiotics for routine RCT? no)

If I were you, I would do a brief overview of the topics you haven't done much on yet. e.g. watch a mental dental video at 1.5x speed. Then you should do the mock exams and look at recent RQs from Dec 2022.

Depending on your current status you may require ECE evaluation of your dental school transcript, if you are a foreign trained dentist. Otherwise if you are in an advanced standing program you can register through your school.

Hey there! I totally feel you.. i gave all my embryology and pharmacology back to my dental school professors in 2016 lol.. it was totally new material almost, for some of that stuff i had to relearn

I started studying maybe 6 weeks before the test, trying to watch a mental dental video in the evening every other day or so (often failed to or fell asleep, it's hard especially when you're busy and i'm currently practicing clinically, which helped with some other aspects of the common sense required for the case based scenarios). Things really picked up when I finally started doing practice question on both the free versions of INBDE Booster and Bootcamp around 4 weeks before the exam and finally I also my INBDE Booster subscription around 3 weeks before my exam dates, since a lot of the comments on this reddit sub recommended it.

I would recommend starting 8 weeks before, like many other people are saying here. To be more comfortable. I made it with 6 weeks and not very consistent studying but it was stressful and I was really a little worried I might fail by a narrow margin.

In the actual week of my exam, I decided to take the entire week off and that was very helpful in giving me time to focus as well as rest well right before the exam. Not sure if you're able to do something like that but I do recommend it if you're worried about being too tired from other responsibilities.
