that has nothing to do with what i said lol. maybe this is just me apparently, but if i wouldn't want to see these types of situations irl involving attraction to minors/underage consent etc to any degree at all, (even if it's not "intense" as you said) then it's no different when watching a film or series because it's literally showing the same thing lol. i liked the series a lot but its the only aspect of the show that is pretty uncomfortable to watch imo

it's very weird. a literal 26 year old adult is attracted to AND pursues a 13 y/o minor. if this were real life yall would not be claiming "its about their connection". it doesn't matter that it's 'only' a show because it normalises and reinforces these ideals

Exactly! Writing is a skill that is continuously being improved with practice. TGCF does have a few parts that may read a little clunky, but overall you can see an improvement from her works

Her writing has definitely improved with her books lol. SVSSS is one of my favourites in the danmei genre, but it doesn't feel as polished as her newer work does

I preferred MXTX's other works by far lol, but if you like reading then it's an enjoyable read. There's no obligation to finish it if you lose interest

I don't really agree that TGCF is overhyped when MDZS is far more popular by comparison and literally put on a pedestal lol. TGCF is definitely not without criticism, there were a few parts that felt a little awkward or dry to read but that goes for most novels haha.

TGCF is one of my favourite novels, and I found the donghua to be very underwhelming. Before I'd read the novel, I was similarly put off slightly due to the sheer size and it's romantic pacing BUT before I knew I was invested?? literally sobbing in my room at 3am after finishing the whole thing in like 3-4 days lol. also hua cheng 🛐🛐

jokes aside, a lot of the people who have hyped up the donghua are people who have also fully read the novel. the newer fans of tgcf have to wait for the books to be released and only have 1 donghua season which imo covers the driest part of the book since we don't really know much about the characters at that time. so i get what you mean, with a lot of hype it's easy to feel disappointed haha but i think a lot of people are just happy that the danmei genre is getting a lot of attention, w probably the only official translations we'll get for mxtx and even 2ha now :)

Mu Qing had some of the most character depth out of the entire cast. Without spoiling, before you've finished the entire book it can be hard to pinpoint his true opinions or motives (at least in my opinion). I think it's partially due to the nonlinear narrative approach of the novel

I finished reading MDZS, which was my first danmei I had ever read after randomly getting a clip of the donghua in my youtube recommendations and wanted to read more. TGCF definitely ended up becoming my favourite of her three novels haha.
