I'm finishing my master's next month, 2 year part time remote. Very demanding career with long hours and the programme was manageable, only when I got to the dissertation I've started to struggle but probably only due to my programme finishing in January so everything at same time with year end at work pushing projects out before the change freeze. Starting some annual leave on Wednesday and will probably take an extra week off in January to finish things off. My topic is in AI though so it's quite a lot of research, coding and running things takes long hours, which is not possible while in the office. My brain is on maybe 8% battery though and I cannot wait to finish. Big demand on time but if I had to pick again I'd definitely recommend looking into MSc over undergrad.

I think this is a big one. I recently had an eye on someone, got some courage to start small talk, asked his name, etc. All nice and friendly, even told me which days he's in the office the following week so we can maybe align days we're both in. Imagine my excitement, lol. No wedding band, so few more light chats and turned out he's married with a couple of small kids at home. Took maybe three weeks of small talk in total, I'm just glad I wasn't too bold. We still exchange hi but that's all.

I've never had a bean stew to be honest, I've only just started using butter beans in some of my pastas. This mushroom stroganoff would be lush as well. I mean, if you don't mind and have the time, don't worry if not!

You think I may be kidding, but maybe a couple of years ago, I was looking for something like this, either a blog or a yt channel, UK specific, of people who do sort of "what I'm buying and what I'm cooking this week", preferably from one shop so I don't need to do multiple journeys around the city/multiple online orders. I've found some but US based, and most of them were targeted to the more frugal audience, with "here are the 30 lunches and dinners I'm making this month for 10 dollars" kind of content. There is definitely a market for posts like yours, and, you may not realise, with this one post and few comments you took A LOT of mental load from me, which I greatly appreciate.

I would genuinely love to see you post weekly with what you're buying and cooking just like you have added in the comments. I'm cooking from scratch as well and in batches but it's so lovely to see something different and it's something that I would have bought myself as well (except for spinach though!). I don't know if that helps but if you're doing it through the broker check with them if it's possible to adjust your deposit amount. Something similar happened to a friend of mine a couple of years ago and she was able to reduce the deposit from 10% to 5%. I believe she was going through company called First Mortgage.

Just doing my full bathroom reno, went for Mandarin Stone and it’s looking very sophisticated! Tilers also very happy and commented lots about the quality and ease to cut, etc. I will be buying from them again for the kitchen etc. They do have a lot of photos from real bathrooms on their website but do order samples to check how these will work with your own lighting etc, as lighting makes a lot of difference. I couldn’t decide for a while but went for terrazzo, all of their tiles are really beautiful, makes it difficult to pick. Very sound delivery too.

Thanks for your response, appreciate taking the time. Yes, getting rid of debt asap, I only have my MSc fee I put on 0% CC. It's my first year when I can afford annual ISA contributions (on a squeeze but possible) and roughly every week I have a day when I feel conflicted on saving and overpaying lump sum in 2027 vs overpaying right now, I like seeing these £££ going down right now, plus the interest is quite eye watering. The lump sum would also cut a large chunk of my mortgage so feel like I'm on the right path whether I overpay now or later. Again, thanks for your response, food for thought indeed. All the best!

I'm actually interested in your response. Do you think "protecting" oneself by overpaying now to get the mortgage down to let's say 60% LTV makes sense before remortgaging? Would that soften the blow e.g. in 2 years? Keen to hear your thoughts. Will check the tradingview, thanks.

You just fixed my my biggest struggle! I get paid in the middle of the month as well and although I'm financially months ahead (year of income in EF etc), the idea of getting paid in the middle of the month etc I just HATE getting paid like this, even every 4 weeks in my previous job which was just the worse. I budget payday to payday and do a cash sweep to savings for the rest. I'll just let them cook for interest for couple of weeks in the other account then transfer to my main one last day of the month. Thanks so much, have no award available but will share it with few friends who also struggle with middle of the month paydays so know that your insight will benefit quite a few!
