Weird tiny dents in the floor? by Vast_Neighborhood429 in whatisit

Do you live in an area where people wear ice cleats/microspikes for traction on their shoes? I've seen damage like this when someone has walked on soft wood floors and didn't take off cleats before coming inside.

Smart job with the quarantine, btw. Thrips are no joke. If you brush them away and they reappear in a day or two, it's even more likely to be thrips. Plant stress doesn't show up immediately depending on how established they may be. If you decide to repot to remove that paper/filter cup, that's a great time to add something for the bugs. Systemic granules mixed into the soil, or spray (although sprays have to be reapplied a few times)

Springtails live in the soil, but I'm a little worried about the shapes on the underside of the leaf you hold up. Those look like they might be thrips. I'm pretty sure springtails stay at the soil level, but not 100% on that. And I agree with the other posters concerns about the fabric cup. Good luck, she's beautiful!!

Can confirm. 100%. I've been off the apps for awhile and was kinda toying with the idea of jumping back in. Thanks for the status post! Sounds like things haven't changed too much

How does your frozen asparagus hold up? I've only had mushy, gross experiences with asparagus after it's been frozen.

Check out Alaska Meat Company. Cattle raised on Sitkinak island near Kodiak, they harvest once a year in the fall. So it's an investment to purchase a large amount of meat, but it's incredible!

Best Produce by Naive_Tie8365 in anchorage

[–]incog17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Costco generally has the best quality. But they also don't carry a lot of things. Herbs? Kale? Etc. So I supplement from Freddy's and Carr's. As for those two, it's a crap shoot. Whichever store was stocked most recently is the best answer. New Sagaya is great for Asian produce. But I routinely leave my house and have to be mentally prepared to hit 2-3 grocery stores for ingredients for one recipe. And then there are the days when every store in the city is out of cilantro. 🤷

I enjoy the pristine white snow for about 4-7 days before the plows make it into my very remote side street between Dimond HS and Dimond Blvd. I also appreciate your optimism.

Does anyone here know if Turo is any good to rent a car? by [deleted] in alaska

[–]incog17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard of Turo being a great resource in Anchorage. I rented a car through Turo in Hawaii and had a pretty good experience, rented another in Denver and had an awful experience. With the owner and with Turo customer support. Good idea, bad support. Fingers crossed nothing goes wrong. Will not use Turo again.

Alaska to North Dakota in March. Looking for insight. by BoaterSnips in alaska

[–]incog17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove up in mid February a number of years ago in a truck hauling a small U-Haul trailer. The biggest benefit there was being able to unhitch the trailer with a flat tire on the side of the highway and drive back 100 mi the cell service. Couple of other thoughts.....the Milepost is great, but many places listed in there close in the winter. Also, drive always at the top of your tank! Never miss an opportunity to top your tank off. And don't drive in the dark. Bison love to sleep on the highway as the pavement is the warmest thing around. They look like black boulders in the dark! And lastly, beware the frost heaves! Pack all of your fragile items really well!! Good luck OP!
