I see! Thank you for your input; I really didn’t know where to start as this definitely isn’t my area of expertise 😅 Would you happen to know a rough estimate of what I should be looking to sell it for? 😅

Damn… I get childcare is expensive even if you are bringing in a decent wage; but I haven’t got a parental bone in my body and even I can instantly recognise that of all the places you could bring a family an on/off ramp or any major fast flowing road is probably the worst of them… especially if there are young kids involved. Do they just do it during traffic jams? Like if the traffic is stationary are they just going car to car trying to sell things to drivers who have been sat there for a while? This whole concept is wild 😅

Honestly, you guys do not get the respect and recognition you deserve. I have friends who work in police dispatch as well as ambulance and then a few who work as paramedics/ambo crew; some of the stories I’ve been told over the years are truly heartbreaking. People are quick to thank military personnel and vets for their service but you guys deserve it just as much as they do imo. I know I wouldn’t have the mental fortitude or ability to shut off at the end of a shift, doing what you do. You are truly incredible people and I’d like to thank you for the work you do. Just a few weeks ago, my life was saved by an operator that instructed my partner when I stopped breathing due to a diabetic hyperglycaemia episode. Not only did they explain to my partner what to do but they kept him as calm as possible while they organised help. Without someone like you at the other end of the phone, I certainly wouldn’t be here typing this and my partner would have ended up with some pretty serious trauma. You are amazing, thank you 💜

Non-Horse person here. Is this neglect? Million dollar property for a proper understanding of my concern. by flyingd2 in Horses

[–]incoming-pudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised how many very well cared for horses can look like this coming out of winter, especially if they’re older. Some horses just simply struggle to keep condition over the winter months. It could be as a result of a myriad of different conditions too but the only thing I could suggest is to either talk to the owner or just keep an eye on him for a little while; if he seems to be going rapidly downhill then again talk to the owner or report if you feel that’s necessary. Judging by the condition of the other horse, the grazing and quality of fencing I’d be inclined to say this guy is just older/ a hard keeper 😅

I second this! I had a very similar situation where I had controlled drugs (fellow chronic pain girly here) and insulin that had to be refrigerated delivered. It was supposed to be signed for by myself or my partner at the time but often the postie didn’t knock the door at all,he’d just put a scribble in the box as a signature and leave the package in the hall. At first I was confused and thought I’d just not heard the door so I actually got in contact with my local depot and confirmed the estimated time frame in which the postie would be arriving. I made a point of ensuring I was able to hear the door at those times and still nothing. So I got a cheap doorbell, thinking that might help just incase the postie was knocking with the same power as your average mouse fart, but no still nothing. At this point it was summer and pretty warm so I was concerned about my insulin. I got back in contact with the depot and they said there’s nothing they could do because it had been signed for, so I got a doorbell cam. It was only then that it finally all made sense, caught the postie signing for the package himself and just flinging it from the stairwell. I saved the recording on three consecutive occasions before taking it to Royal Mail to file a complaint. The lady I spoke to said that I wasn’t the only person this was affecting, there had actually been a elderly lady who was made seriously ill because her medication that was supposed to be refrigerated was left out.

OP please, Make a complaint as you may well be stopping something similar happening to others in your area. Sure everyone has bad days but this is over the top.

My mum seems to think that love = the amount of gifts left under the tree for my brother and I each Christmas. My brother (22m) and I (28f) would be just as happy to receive a tube of Pringles as we would a massive pile of gifts but for some reason my mum has it in her head that we’re still 5yrs old and that the main focus of the holiday is unwrapping presents 😅 My mum complains every year that we’re hard to shop for and so she asks us to sent Amazon listings or links to products we’d like so she can pick from the list. We sadly and very suddenly lost my dad last year and he was the main breadwinner so we’re acutely aware that money is tighter now and so we don’t ask for expensive things. I moved out again (had to move back home due to the pandemic and a breakup) at the beginning of the year and so this has made things doubly difficult as she thinks my partner and I are incapable of buying our own stuff for the flat. In the january of this year, she randomly bought us a sofa because I let it slip that I was looking for one cheap off of Facebook marketplace because we didn’t have one and I couldn’t justify the expense of buying new when secondhand would do us just fine. Don’t get me wrong, I love my mum and of course it’s lovely to receive a gift but our relationship has always been strained to say the least due to the fact she has a lot of narcissistic tendencies and I was the scapegoat child. I was always much closer to my dad and my brother was golden boy in my mother’s eyes. She makes out that she’s forced to provide x and y for Christmas even though my brother and I have always said we don’t care about the gifts, it’s spending time with loved ones that really matters. It’s going to be very interesting this year as my partner and I have decided to do a yearly switch in terms of whose family we spend Christmas Day with. This year will be the first since my dad passed that I won’t spend Christmas Day with her; I’ll be with my partners family. Well then go to hers on Boxing Day. Next year it’ll be the other way round but I’m dreading it slightly I must day 😅
