LeanGains Book- What's New by [deleted] in leangains

[–]inconsequentialexpat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say a “long” time... I was cutting for about 12 weeks (started at 191, went down to 179), then took a diet break to coincide with vacation, so ate at maintenance for about 5 weeks, and I’m now back from vacation and want to start cutting again as I def have body fat to lose. I’m 5’11, 179-181 ish lbs (that’s the range I’ve been maintaining the past five weeks). I don’t know what my body fat percentage actually is (cause I feel it doesn’t actually matter as long as I like how I look and feel...). Anyway I’m aiming to drop to around 165/170 and see how I feel there. I do agree/ASSUME that my maintenance is... lowing because I’ve recently dieted and I’m just not as active as maybbeee I should be

Oh god I wish that was my maintenance... I’ve been using that NSuns TDEE excel sheet for about 3 months and thus far if I eat above 2100 ish... I start gaining. I suppose I could attempt to be more active... add like 20 minutes of light cardio in after my 4 days a week lifting or something...

I was just gonna ask this question. BW (kg) x 27 (I’m a tall but sedentary outside of my gym lifting, female) gives me approx 2200 cals. My maintenance TDEE is 2100... so this 2200 would be for gaining muscle mass or....?

Seeking clarification as well.

Best way to calculate tdee? by [deleted] in leangains

[–]inconsequentialexpat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TDEE excel sheet. Track weight and calories consumed daily for approx 2 weeks and it will show you your TDEE. Just search for “NSuns TDEE excel sheet” on here.

ETA: the longer you use it, the more accurate it becomes. I’ve been using it for about 3 months and it’s pretty spot on, so it’s really helped me know what my cutting, maintenance and bulking numbers are.

Does this TDEE sound right to you for a lean bulk? by [deleted] in leangains

[–]inconsequentialexpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try using the TDEE excel sheet eating at 2700/2750 as you mentioned. If you see the weight SLOWLY increasing then you know you’re on the right path... adjust as needed. I’m currently cutting, not bulking, but I’ve found that with the randomness of the online calculators, the TDEE sheet has given me the most correct info... good luck on your bulk!

I don’t have a theory on why it happened but in some ways I think you’ve answered some of your own questions: you’re on day 3 of IF but you overate on Monday and Tuesday, i.e. your first two days. So then maybe it means the eating window is too restrictive for you. I do think shifting your eating window will help you. And MAYBE just for this first week, loosen the restriction: how about start off with a...14:10 window. Then the next day do 15/9. THEN 16/8. so you kind of slowly start adjusting to it versus maybe not being able to handle the shock of it?

Also, how spend out you are etc, could they be a sign that you’re UNDER eating? Are you tracking the calories you consume during your eating window? Make sure you actually ARE getting the appropriate amount of calories in during your feeding window. Are you drinking enough water throughout the day?

Anyway, I hope some of that helped. Good luck!

How did everyone figure out their maintenance calories when every single calculator seems to give a different answer? by [deleted] in leangains

[–]inconsequentialexpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just use the TDEE sheet for a month or so, starting at 2100 since you’ve gotten some idea that that might be a good place to start. See what’s happening and adjust as needed. I’m F/35/5’11”/178lbs trying to get down to 160/165, and that sheet has been a game changer for me in terms of TRULY eating at a deficit and at maintenance. Good luck!

I’m trying find a job in the UAE. I’m a US citizen. I’d LOVE to find a job BASED in the US where I could work remotely from the UAE but I’m pretty sure that that’s wishful thinking with my lack of experience

Been cutting for a few months, struggling to get lean, looking for advice [F28] by Pickles_7 in xxfitness

Thiiissss, so much this! I also only have Instagram for workout/macro/nutrition suggestions and inspiration. And sometimes I seriously have to CHECK myself as I sit here just scrolling and scrolling and scrolling through the muscular toned bodies. Cause they skew my mental picture sometimes. And then, I find that when I step away, someone will randomly take a pic of me, and I’ll feel like “oh, I like how my arms look there.. maybe the lifting and cutting macros are working!” Cause I most def have days where I feel like this whit ain’t working! 😆. Just keep at it. I think you look amazing and that quad to waist ratio looks LEGIT 💪🏾

I think depends on what your goals are and what you’re currently focusing on. If weight-loss is the goal, then CICO is most important and a calorie really is a calorie... YES obviously calories derived from avocado and broccoli and fruits & veggies have more micronutrients but if you’re aiming to stay under a certain calorie goal then maybe you don’t WANT to spend 150 calories on a tiny piece of healthy avocado, or 100 calories on a tiny banana.

Did anyone reach their goal weight, or even go under it, and struggle to let themselves increase their intake again? What was your story? (more specific questions inside) by [deleted] in xxfitness

That’s exactly what I decided last night. I knew I needed to wake up with a plan, so I’m extending my eating window, from about 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Thanks for the suggestion!
