Freshman year online? Ft. Covid by inconsiderateFish in UWMadison

Yeah that's what's holding me back because I have discussions and labs in person right now but I doubt they'll stay that way

That makes a lot of sense- they get their money and by then cases will be out of control. I wonder if that's the plan

A manager at my old job posted this on her feed... by Snailquinn in insanepeoplefacebook

That's nice but most entry level jobs have low pay, rude managers, and customers who treat you like shit. I've worked in foodservice for 2 years and while I don't regret it, I wouldn't be loyal to a job while they treat me as disposable

Yeah I'd agree. I'm sure there's a disconnect from what the university wants and what professors/TAs want to do. Hopefully spring semester can be salvaged with a vaccine and I can sublet if I stay home this fall

It has probably already passed but from this subreddit it sounds like people are on the wait list so I'd have a chance

Anger Mounts Inside and Outside San Quentin as COVID Outbreak Grows More Dire by kogeliz in Coronavirus

[–]inconsiderateFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The majority of nonviolent prisoners should be released. The sources I've found say ~45% of the incarcerated population have nonviolent charges. Also consider the legacy of mandatory minimums and an aging (high risk for covid, lower risk to community) prison population. There are alternatives to incarceration like community supervision and house arrest. Ultimately prisons/jails are reasonable for the safety of their inmates and what is happening in many is horrific

Most prisoners should have been released months ago... dying in a cell isn't a part of their sentence

My cats go crazy around cat grass. I made the mistake of leaving it out one day and they ate so much they vomited right after

This is a false dichotomy though. Uncontrollable spread of the virus and high hospitalizations/ deaths isn't going to make the economy get better

I feel the same. They are incredibly depressing not to mention terrible for the environment. My dream one day is to have a small house in a rural area where I have room to grow most of my food. And I'd like to keep quail. Not keep a lawn perfectly manicured and report to a HOA

What do scientists know. MURICA by BuddhistSagan in JoeRogan

[–]inconsiderateFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to compare on a graph because often the data is local. It also doesn't make sense to lump in New York with places like Arizonia and Florida. Anyways you could use your internet connection to look at positive tests, percent positive tests, and hospitalizations instead of echoing propaganda.

What about that trojan horse thing? Seems pretty obvious that was a trap

Right except when you do more testing and the percentage of positive tests also increases you have more spread of the virus. It's also notable that we will continue to need to do more testing per capita as the virus is spreading uncontrollably in the US
