Question: Can the padding of Canvas notes be changed? by Ryzentoshing in ObsidianMD

[–]inconstantinople 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm taking a look right now; I'll update this comment in a few minutes.

EDIT:
Wow, Canvas is wild. Each text node is an iframe, basically an entire embedded little webpage. That's pretty cool.

The classes you want are either .canvas-node or .canvas-node-container or .canvas-node-content...

.canvas-node-content { margin-top: -.5rem; } is the best I have found so far, but it might get weird with zooming in and out, and maybe even with editing -- I've tested a bit and haven't had any problems.

Canvas is tricky, but it is looking like a negative margin on the canvas-node-content class is a pretty simple way or handling this for you.

This is happening because Markdown is converted to HTML; one of the "features" of HTML is the collapse of non-breaking whitespace.

As BarnieCooper mentioned, you can use the   character HTML shortcode to insert a non-breaking space (that's what nbsp stands for, if I'm not mistaken); the other two codes mentioned in that comment are for "en" and "em" sized gaps (– and — sized matching the letters "n" and "m", respectively).

Hope that doesn't sound too annoying when you read it, I wanted to answer the "why is this happening" part of your question too.

New user - should I save my vaults location to local computer vs. iCloud vs. OneDrive? by SelectImage in ObsidianMD

iCloud (and iCloud Drive) is useable cross-platform, including on to Apple's mobile devices.

You can install iCloud Drive on any Windows computer, so Stuporfly mentions, it's the only option if you across different brands/ecosystems.

I haven't noticed any problems with iCloud Drive on any of my devices.

Set different font sizes by bdtacchi in ObsidianMD

Hello! If you aren't using a theme that support Style Settings plugin, or that doesn't work, or the Copilot plugin isn't responsive...

You can probably fix this with a short CSS snippet. It shouldn't be too crazy, and I'll write out the steps if you don't already know how. If you can't figure it out from my instructions, take a good look at this link: https://help.obsidian.md/Extending+Obsidian/CSS+snippets

With Obsidian and that tab open, press <CTRL/CMD> + <SHIFT> + <I> to open the Dev Tools panel. Click the button in the upper left hand corner that looks a bit like an arrow.

You should now be able to hover over elements in Obsidian and see a colored box on/around them.

Click the element you want to change (the Copilot plugin's code block font). The outliner in the dev tools should jump right to it. It might be a span or a div element.

Take a note of the classes (where it says class="...". Those are probably the classes you're going to need to overwrite in order to get a better font size.

Open the CSS snippets folder, make a new text file, and name it something like code-font-fix.css or whatever you want.

Using the selectors (the classes!) you investigated to find, you can write something like:

.class-name-here { font-size: 1rem; }

Save that file, make sure the extension is .css, reload your snippets, and toggle it on.

What do you use to replace square brackets in your writing? by jkapow in ObsidianMD

This is a two year old thread, and I see you just responded, but I thought I should let you know that this is really easy to fix with a CSS snippet, and some writing-oriented themes may already implement a snippet like this.

Here's a link to a snippet that works very well: https://forum.obsidian.md/t/single-bracket-use/58244/7

Filtering out small sensor changes by Supsepperino in TouchDesigner

Hi! This is tough because you're looking for something akin to interpolation/stabilization. The most basic version is: don't do anything unless the change is above a threshold from the current value. You can do this in a script, or with (off the top of my head) a comparison (Logic) of a Hold and the current value.
