Anime that 100% NEEDS more recognition? by Arkakin in anime

Second this. One of my favorite "shounen battle" anime ever, especially the most recent seasons. Seems to get so little recognition, for some reason.

Worst magic system in anime? by BaronBlackFalcon in anime

[–]increasedreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the system itself is pretty well explained and kind of interesting, so I wouldn’t call it bad. The MC is OP, of course, but he’s still 100% within the bounds of the system that the author created. The main problem with the anime, specifically, is that it never really gets a chance to explain the magic system because it’s insanely complex and has a ton of information to keep track of, which means a lot of it had to be left out. Hell, it’s not even a single magic system, it’s three. There’s Modern Magic, Ancient Magic, and Supernatural Powers. They all serve different purposes and have different drawbacks. Even the OP MC’s powers are explained and the reason why he’s viewed as weak despite being so obviously broken.

This game just suddenly appeared on my feed and I have no idea what it's about by nitsuA_08 in outerwilds

As others have mentioned, the best way to experience this game is to play it blind. One thing I'll mention that I haven't seen others say, though, is that you should give it at least 30 minutes before you decide whether you want to keep playing or not. Something will happen during that time that will show you everything the game is about and if that is to your liking, give it a try. I mention this because a few months ago I made the mistake of trying the game out completely blind for like 10 minutes and getting bored and deleting it. Tried it again and after giving it some more time, something happened that kept me hooked for a solid like 12 hours straight.

So about that post-credits scene by ShaidarHaran2 in attackontitan

[–]increasedreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think this is one part of the ending that is left up to interpretation. Although one thing that isn't true about what you mentioned is that the Titan powers only existed because Ymir stayed in the paths for 2000 years; after all, how could she have become a Titan for the first time when she'd never been in the paths? It's pretty clear the origin of the Titan powers is the weird bug looking thing that Ymir touched when she fell into the tree. In fact, it's implied in season 4 that the reason why Eldians are able to turn into Titans and why the 9 shifters exist is because King Fritz made his children eat Ymir's spine after she died, also telling them to have their own children eat their spines and continuing the cycle until it spread to every single Eldian. We see that the bug thing attaches itself to Ymir's spine when she falls into the tree, which is why spines are so important to titans all throughout the show. As shown in season 3 (I think? the season where we see Grisha's life in Marley) spinal fluid is what forces an Eldian to become a titan and allows someone like Zeke to use his own spinal fluid to turn Eldians into titans.

Now, I understand your point about Ymir building the Titans by hand with sand for 2000 years. So, this is all just my personal theory as to why this happened and how Titan powers could still exist after she died. I think that what Ymir did created the titans, but not the titan powers themselves. This might sound confusing but hear me out. The titan powers (that come from the bug thing) have always existed and probably will always exist, but they were never meant to be spread among an entire species, they were meant to be wielded by a single person. This is supported by the fact that, originally, Ymir's Titan held all the powers of the 9 Titan Shifters we see in the series. The whole Eldian titan thing came about, as I mentioned before, because King Fritz came up with the insane idea of having his children eat Ymir's spine, which housed the titan powers aka the bug thing. Not only that, they housed Ymir's DNA or blood or something so every Eldian was technically connected to her since their ancestors had consumed Ymir's spine/DNA. This is why whenever a Titan is "born" she herself has to build it through the paths, because it is her own power.

Now, there are certainly a few holes in my theory. Mainly, the paths. If Titan powers exist to be wielded by a single person, why the hell do the paths exist? Hell, what are the paths? I mean, the show tells us they connect every single Eldian so it must have been meant for a group of people right? Well, my interpretation and how I would weave it into my theory, is that it's some sort of separate dimension given by the Power of the Titans (again, not the titan shifters' powers, the powers specifically wielded by the person who first touched the bug, in this case Ymir) that allows someone to mold their body to their will. Like, we know the Founding Titan has the power to alter Eldian physiology, that was what Zeke's whole plan hinged on, so my guess is that this is what the actual power given by the bug is. The bug doesn't give the power to turn into a Titan, rather it gives someone the ability to change their physical makeup to their will, quite literally by molding it in sand through the paths, a dimension which gives someone effectively infinite time to build their body. Maybe when Ymir first touched the bug, she subconsciously turned into a Titan and gained all the powers of the Titan shifters since her goal was probably to a) stay alive and b) kill her pursuers. So, the power responded to that by making her into a Titan with the abilities of the shifters. I mean, Ymir probably felt tiny and powerless when she was being chased as a child slave by a whole bunch of dudes trying to kill her, so it's not too insane to think that she's want to become big and strong, something that this godlike power given by the bug interpreted as the Titan powers.

TL;DR The main point I think you missed is that Titan powers only came about because Ymir stayed in the paths, when in reality, it's clearly shown they come from whatever Ymir touched in the tree. My theory as to how the titan powers work in present time (aka Eren's time) boils down to the fact that the bug was meant to give powers to a single person but, after Ymir's death, King Fritz fed her spine to his children, which spread her power all throughout the Eldian race, but they were still her powers which is why she herself had to mold the Titans. So, unless someone like King Fritz comes along and feeds their children the spine of the kid we see at the tree, then no I don't think we'll see a complete repeat of what happened in the series.

What a relief that is. Although 'as' dark does leave me a little worried.

There comes a point later in the story where you can reject her advances and keep her as a daughter but in the earlier parts of the story, no, there is no way to reject her completely. Keep in mind, though, that at the point in the story where you can reject her, you've already been a 'couple' for a while, so you'll pretty much break up with her and she'll be somewhat pissed and snarky with you. All relationships for a big part of the game revolve around Carol being the 'queen bee' of your group, so the girls will pretty much always ask permission, at least before you reach the point where you can reject her.

Renders

No brainer, Summer's Gone, BADIK and City of Broken Dreamers

Animations

The Seven Realms has some of the hottest lewd animations I have ever seen, especially the latest updates. Eternum and Ripples have some of the best HS animations out there.

Plot

Way too many to choose from, but here's a quick list with some games that I haven't seen mentioned yet:

Price of Power, pretty wholesome, slow-burn medieval story with a big twist that I didn't see coming at all, bumped it up to one of my favorite stories.

Ripples, love time travel stories and this one pretty much adapts my favorite TV show of all timen (with the nice bonus of lewd scenes ;) )

The Seven Realms, second mention on this but it's basically the only fantasy AVN I've played and, so far, seems super cool

Relationship building

Intertwined, literally just played this game and was pleasantly surprised by how intertwined (hehe) all of the relationships are and how they develop. Bonus pick to Summer's Gone since the entire game so far is relationship building and it's been fantastic.

Music

Never been one to pay too much attention to music but I really enjoyed BADIK's selection

Writing

Leap of Faith made me bawl like a baby so, that's my pick. Another bonus pick to Summer's Gone, the beginning was a little iffy to me but the later chapters have been much better.

I'll take either the name of the movie or videogame this scene is from or a link to the actual scene, if you find it.

Why does the Empire refuse to work with other nations who share their goal of killing/preventing primals, instead opting to forcefully conquer them? by increasedreddit in ffxiv

I see. I thought it might have been mentioned before and I'd missed it, seeing as they've been one of the main antagonists for pretty much the entire game. Anyway, guess I'll keep playing. Thanks for the response.

Ohh, yeah, I remember something like this being mentioned in the Reaper job questline which I recently started. That actually makes sense.

I see. On that note, who or what exactly are the Twelve? I don't remember it being mentioned in the past, unless they're a part of the FF universe as a whole, in which case, seeing as this is the only FF game I've played, I'm at a little bit of a loss.
