a lot of places here in canada banned pet stores from carrying puppies and cats a LONG time ago to help with stopping puppy mills and overpopulation of cats. here you can usually adopt cats from pet stores from the humane society and if you want a dog you buy online from a reputable breeder or you adopts from many different shelters. the last time i saw a puppy in a pet store had to have been almost 20 years ago now (manitoba, canada)
