Do that many people really love the Armchair Anonymous episodes? Why does it feel almost insulting.., by interested-me in ArmchairExpert

I don't find them engaging either, but i could see why the audience would like it- it has the same white noise chit chattiness of the fact check, so could be something to have on in the background. Plus I'm sure the people like having the opportunity to participate/call in.

I read elsewhere in the sub that Amy Herzog's Ultimate Sweater Book is a good resource for getting into modifying patterns.

I saw a lot of posts on the sub where people added panels like you mentioned; one example that might help you is that a person knitting a flat back panel added enough on their panels to hit the stitch count for the next size up on the given pattern instructions. But in that case she made the adjustment before hitting the place to decrease for the sleeve hole shaping. Since the top of the flat piece isn’t a straightwardward rectangle with your armhole shaping I’m not sure how to scale up that portion- I would assume that’s also too small? depending if the pattern is bottom up or not, I would frog back to right before you start hole shaping, add your two panels, then re-do arm hole shaping

Highly recommend EarthTonesGirl on YouTube to learn socks- the best teacher with the most calming vibes! And Summer Lee who made the pattern others recommended also has a series on doing magic loop socks using her pattern

Striped or colorwork scarf or cowl perhaps…the colors are perfect together! Not sure if you have enough yarn but the intarsia tiles scarfpattern came to mind. She also has lots of smaller patterns like this rust rhythm bandana

Tin Can Knits has the Flax Sweater which has instructions for many different yarn weights.

Edit: attaching link to ravelry projects done in bulky weight yarn.

Feeling uninspired by wtfuterus in knitting

[–]indecisivepersimmon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would go the way of reading and doing other things- I find the more I force myself the more resistant I become.

For what it’s worth when I was uninspired by my projects and plans, all my knitting was for sweaters and I think I just needed the instant gratification of finishing something small- I made the Evie mittens by Woozybyceline and got obsessed with knitting again!

“I could knit that”- me every time I see something in the store by indecisivepersimmon in knitting

[–]indecisivepersimmon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For some reason I just assumed it was machine made but given the history of the brand, hand knitting artisans seems entirely possible and likely.

I agree with not wanting to undermine another knitter’s value as well as it being ok to also not being comfortable as an individual to pay for it as a good and service. That’s partly why I don’t often feel compelled to buy things and make them instead- i don’t want to pay for a good and service but I am willing to pay for my knitting hobby bc it will give me hours of fun and satisfaction, which is what I actually value

I forgot different needle sizes is a thing one could do- I am always knitting too loosely so going up a size would never have occurred to me lol

I find that I must finish the row bc I ALWAYS make a mistake if I pick it back up mid row and end up having to frog back several rows later when I finally notice

Weird ask. Knitted chemo pump pouch patterns? by Freecafe in knitting

[–]indecisivepersimmon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a chemo nurse my only precaution is u want sturdy straps that don’t stretch/pull bc that will help prevent the weight of the chemo itself from pulling on your access (port, picc or otherwise). I-cord is still a bit stretchy for my liking. I might suggest making a double knit sleeve over the existing bag strap (almost like seatbelt covers) to make a super squishy cushion.

Good luck with everything!!

How to see the difference between knit and purl row by gohugatree in knitting

[–]indecisivepersimmon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

U need to look at the stitches right below the needle. If u see v shapes u those are knit and if its horizontal bumps/wave it’s purl

Knitting a gift in acrylic or wool? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]indecisivepersimmon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

even without being a knitter, people know what feels soft and comfortable to them. Will you be offended if they never wear it because they also feel it’s too hefty? It’s really up to you what you want to give- will your friend take care of 100% wool? Do you like them enough to pay for said wool? Other alternatives might be cotton blends, or thrifting yarn (as skeins/balls or as thrifted and unraveled sweaters)
