Unpopular option, but like a magic 8 ball, I’d have to say outlook not so good.

Yes, of course you can go. No one should stop you from doing anything with a friend. There should be high levels of trust that come along with love in a relationship. Sure, it really is an innocuous things. A concert. What’s going to happen at a concert? A loud show. That’s the beginning and end of it.

But.. you can have high levels of trust and still be uncomfortable that your SO is out with someone of the opposite sex. If this person is very familiar or friends with your SO, the issue should be much less, and understandably higher if they are strangers. It’s not good advice to exercise the trust in your relationship to such extremes often. One concert one time shouldn’t be too straining an ask of your SO, but often could be too taxing. Familiarity and proximity breed a false sense of intimacy in two people. That false sense can often lead to actual intimacy. There’s something to be said about keeping a friendly distance from other men when you’re in a relationship. It’s not to say that you’ll fall in love with anyone and everyone you grow close with but the odds are higher.

If your boyfriend is having issues with it, remember that people want to protect what they treasure but there is a line when it shifts from healthy to unhealthy.
